Electoral Office encourages voters to continue exercising their rights

Voters waiting for their turn in the Roseau Central constituency Friday morning

Press/Public Education Officer at the Electoral Commission, Elias Dupuis has encouraged persons to continue exercising their rights to vote throughout the day.

During an interview with Dominicanewsonline (DNO) today, Dupuis stated that so far, voting, for the most part, has started on time.

He said although there were a couple of delays, those were resolved within a reasonable amount of time.

“What we have seen is the lines at polling stations around the country are getting long pretty early this morning which we take as a good sign, a sign that Dominicans are conscious and want to be involved in the politics of their country. “ he said.

He said there have been no serious reports of any incidents and at the moment and voting continues well.

Dupuis hopes that the operations will proceed smoothly through the day and that security measures are in place if any incidents were to occur.

He advised voters to leave the polling areas within a reasonable amount of time after voting, to ensure that there are no undue security concerns.

Meantime, in the audio interview below, a voter in the Roseau Central constituency shared her thoughts on the elections with Dominica News Online (DNO) this morning.

Election volee, which means in English the election is already rigged and stolen. We are dealing with thieves that have put everything in place to steal the election. Even the polling day was planned to make thievery legal! After votes are counted say by 7pm, and ballots will be carried by legal rats to legal rat nests, where mama rats and papa rats are hiding (though they call them police heads and police station s), until Monday for final recount. Dominica got to the point where you cannot trust anyone not even pastors, priests, bishop, or evangelist as all bought and all are partakers, supporters and defenders of evil. Oh boy see where we are 15 years after we buried Rosie Douglas and Piere Charles. Sacwe voleh!!

This election is nothing more than people going through the motion knowing well that the end result will not be based on the issues affecting us, but rather, on the one that has money to buy the election. I already know the result because I understand the power of money. Not one thing is done by the government or the electoral office, to ensure free and fair election!
Imagine West Indies playing a cricket game against India, in India and both umpires are Indians, grounds staff are Indians, match referee is Indian, scorers are Indians and ICC board are all Indians. Wouldn’t all of us say it’s unfair even before one ball is bowled? But is that not what we have in that so called election? Skerrit has all the money to buy votes here and abroad the electoral office, the president, the police commissioner and many top ranking police officers are all Red, CARICOM and RSS there to shoot, intimidate and prosecute us; I mean nothing to at least give the impression the election is free &…
