The Village of Bense was buzzing over the weekend, when hundreds of people gathered to pay respect, celebrate, and witness the final sending home of Elias Dupuis at his funeral.
It was an atmosphere of solemn, sad, yet great, and happy memories shared about Elias. Numerous heartfelt tributes were given from former colleagues, acquaintances, friends, family members, and loved ones. All shared the same
sentiments, of the wonderful individual he was.
Mother of Elias Dupuis, Corinthia Fabien-Dupuis described him as someone who was curious, with a thirst for knowledge and knew no boundaries.
“Most remarks I got from people was that Elias…he would always run up to them with a hug or smile and greet them.”
During the tribute, Shaminey Walsh-Dupuis (Lily) wife of Elias Dupuis said he was a sportsman and philosopher among many other accolades.
“Elias was a breath of fresh air, a very open person. He was his own cheerleader and everyone [else’s] cheerleader. There is nothing you could have said to break him down. He knew his abilities and was confident in his abilities. Elias was selfless and I will aspire to be as selfless as he was. Elias has gone too soon,” she added.
Cousin and Co-founder of 365 MMP, Tridel Edwin said “It was the hardest day of my life when I received the news of [Elias’s] passing. He was truly a person I can say knew it all. Anything I wanted to know I would message Elias and he would definitely know.”
He added, “[Elias’s] word was always ‘awesome’, no matter the situation. I will surely miss him.”
Elias Dupuis was employed as an Investment Promotion Officer at Invest Dominica Authority, he previously worked as a Content Creator for DIGICEL and was Information Officer at the Electoral Office of Dominica. He was also a co-founder of 365MMP along with his cousin Tridel Edwin. Elias is survived by his wife, Shaminey Walsh-Dupuis, stepson Jhai, and brother Avery. Parents of Elias Orville Dupuis II are the late Senator Elias Dupuis I and Dr. Corinthia Fabien-Dupuis, a Pathologist, based in Barbados.
The late Elias Orville Dupuis II was born on September 6, 1986, and was laid to rest on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at the Bense Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Interment was at the Bense Seventh-Day Adventist Cemetery.
Though Elias Orville Dupuis II may no longer be here in body, he will surely live on in the hearts of the many people whose lives he touched and will always be remembered as an ‘awesome’ individual.
