The Electoral Reform Coalition (ERC) has issued a formal statement expressing its disapproval of Prime Minister Mia Mottley’s participation in a political rally in Dominica, highlighting concerns about appropriateness and regional implications. According to the ERC, Prime Minister Mottley’s attendance at a Dominica Labour Party rally on June 1st, 2025, was deemed highly inappropriate and insulting to the Dominican people.
The coalition’s statement underscores that Dominica is still in the process of recovering from a contentious electoral campaign, which concluded with allegations of electoral fraud. The ERC notes that the March 19, 2025, elections were marred by what it describes as fraudulent voting, which was allegedly legitimized by the Roosevelt Skerrit-led administration. The statement further highlights that opposition leaders and other citizens are currently out on bail and face restrictions from participating in public gatherings, circumstances attributed to the heavy-handed actions of the Dominica Labour Party (DLP) administration and police repression.
The ERC emphasizes that the chairmanship of CARICOM, which rotates every six months among Caribbean heads of government, is a position that requires neutrality and non-partisanship. The coalition pointed out that no sitting CARICOM Chairman should engage in partisan political activities within member states. It considers Mottley’s participation in a political rally in Dublanc as a breach of this convention and criticizes her for misleading Dominicans into believing she could support a political event while holding her regional leadership role.
The coalition further urges Barbadian citizens to communicate to their Prime Minister that attending a political rally in Dominica while serving as CARICOM Chairman is inappropriate. It also appeals to other CARICOM heads of government to advise Mottley against actions that could tarnish the reputation of the regional organization. The ERC warns that such conduct risks causing irreparable damage to CARICOM’s standing.
In the event that Prime Minister Mottley wishes to continue participating in political activities in Dominica, the ERC states that she should consider relinquishing her chairmanship of CARICOM. While the coalition supports the principle of political solidarity, it stresses that maintaining the integrity and reputation of CARICOM is paramount.
The ERC has also sent a formal letter to Prime Minister Mottley, with copies to the CARICOM Secretary-General, urging her to act in the best interest of Caribbean unity. The coalition emphasizes the importance of regional cohesion, especially amid ongoing debates over electoral reform and campaign financing regulations in Dominica, and hopes that leadership actions will reflect a commitment to regional stability and respect for democratic processes.
See letter to CARICOM Chairperson Mia Mottley:
PM Skerrit was damn right when he said that “Dominica is not a real country.” In a real country there would be a massive protest from the airport intersection and in every intersection and village Mia Mottley drives on. Its just unbelievable that Skerrit would just take Ross University from us and give it to Mia Motley and for Skerrit to bring her to Dominican to address labor 70th anniversary as if to suggest that we are doltish and tebe. Where was Skerrit when Rosie Douglas took Roseau to protest in Roseau to bring down Ross to Portsmouth? Man this is not about UWP and DLP but rather the insult to the people of Dominica by PM Skerrit and Mia Motley . I still red but damn upset and outraged
“In a real country there would be a massive protest from the airport intersection and in every intersection and village, Mia Mottley drives on.” that real Country you envision exist only in your mind, it shows the absurdities of what the mind can create ignoring reason, not adhering to real facts as related to the matter you are preoccupied with.
Here is, you’re misunderstanding you cannot give something away you do not own or have no control of, The PM did not do what you
are alleging, the facts are there, also why make an enemy with someone based on assumption and your perception creating political friction between two Countries. Why focus on spilt milk, didn’t the PM get a replacement for Ross, and are you not seeing the unity taking place while some try to create division.
I hope prime minister Motley treat this letter with the disdain it deserves and dump it in her trash can for the bin men to throw away. The gull of these fellas to try and embarrass as astute a Prime Minister as Mia Motley is astounding, Especially when you consider UWP officials openly attend opposition rallies in other Caribbean islands In an effort to try and influence their votes for the parties they support. What hypocrisy. MIA Motley should have no qualms attending the Labour party’s rally in support of her friend Skerrit and celebrating with them their achievements and accomplishments in developing this country over the past decades. You are welcome in Dominica, Prime minister Motley.
@Eagle-Eyed
She did justuce to the issues in the letter.
She did not teeat it with any dusdain, she called out Skerrit for who he is.
Mia Mottley is a nomad. She wanders from place to place around the world giving eloquent and persuasive speeches about governance while her country is mired in economic deprivation, her people in severe despondency, she borrowing and creating generational debt, and crime is out of control.
My message to the Dominican people is simply this – Mia Mottley is no exemplar. She arouses people’s emotions and plays on them. Don’t fall for her subterfuge.
Do you think that such comment measures up to the reality of Mia Mottley, the woman with such accomplishments making inroads into geopolitics on the world stage. You sit behind your computer day in day out spewing foolishness, looking through your distorted mind and ludicrous repetitious rhetoric. Your message to Dominicans, lol, who takes you seriously on this forum that you have a message for Dominicans. Look at the people who you idolized and want to Govern Dominica, are they not the ones who arouse people’s emotion and plays them, having them go out into streets and demonstrate and then being arrested.
I will tell you something, you cannot distort reality and facts by your irrational comments with your proficiency of words, Au revoir
Ibo France.
De madame knows what skerrit is doing in Dominica she cannot even think of doing it in Barbados, so she/they facilitating skerrit for their own personal benefit..

When you in power because of greed, or when power has gone to your head and you have become money hungry, you fall for anything and that where coruption sets in..
Them fellas just opening Mia’s eyes to the sort of unfounded allegations and irrational behaviors of the “opposition forces” that Skerrit have had to deal with in Dominica. Keep digging your graves.

What a mind, is this what you use this forum to post a comment, Wow. I noticed you used the Name Gary, I have been posting using the name Gary since this site was founded, more than 15 years ago. I
hope that the followers on this site do not associate me with such a comment.
CARICOM is a close knit social club. The current rulers work in unison not to improve the living standards of their citizens but to prolong their stay in power.
Mia Mottley oratorical skills are par excellence. However, she is a dismal failure at governing the country.
Under her tenure, living conditions are unbearable for most Bajans. Everything is on a ‘HIGH’ – high crime, high unemployment, high poverty rate, high inflation, high taxes, etcetera. Barbados is the second most indebted country in the Caribbean. So poorly the economy is performing, she has taken the country to the IMF.
For trying to persuade the citizenry to keep the congenital LIAR in power, Mia Mottley would have permanently tarnished herself.
Skerrit is largely a fool, Dominica’s most myopic and LAZIEST Prime Minister. Mia Mottely has already had in her bag, Ross University, which the lying Itassi coward allowed to fly to Barbados, while the LIAR gave priority to wooing Isaac to cross the floor.
It’s clear that Mia is a gifted orator. Skerrit likes to hide behind smart people, first it was big belly Ralph from St Vincent, now it’s Mia. My big problem is though, while Skerriit and his Manicou gang in the police force are arresting opposition candidates for protesting, he is hell busy preparing for a general election. Hundred dollar notes to people, money being left in shops to give free drinks, nightly meetings in countless villages,etc, are all the harbinger of an impending election. If he gives hints on Sunday, i won’t be surprised.Labour Party does not sell a “sweetie”, whose money is Chi-Chi using to do this? This LAZY inveterate and compulsive LIAR, must be held to account whenever the table is turned,and he…
On the 1st of June Johnson Boston and his bunch of useless bunch of ERC (UWP) supporters will see and know what is meant by the PEOPLE.The constitution of Dominica makes NO provision for electoral reform..All the election observers for the past 4 elections reported the elections held in Dominica were FREE and FAIR and reflected the WILL of the people.The handful of blue dictators cannot dictate to the government for the people,with the people and by the people.ERC will confirm or be taken off the register.There will be no campaign financing and no reregistration.Mia Morley should designated ERC and UWP a terrorist organizations and ban them from BARBADOS.
@The Clown
Pure garbage as usual. Nothing new.
Just as there are Religious Zealots, there are also Political Zealots. I may also add why a group of people continuously repeat and echo such mischievous propaganda with no evidence, quote, “Dominica is still in the process of recovering from a contentious electoral campaign, which concluded with allegations of electoral fraud,” really, well who concluded that. Another mischievous assumption, The ERC notes that the March 19, 2025, elections were marred by what it describes as fraudulent voting, which was allegedly legitimized by the Roosevelt Skerrit-led administration. First of, there were no elections held in Dominica on March 19, 2025, Dominicans know what took place on that date. The last election held in Dominica was a snap general election, on 6 December 2022. This election was not illegal or contrary to the Constitution. When will this mission of madness come to an end by such a fringe group of Political activist.
@Shameless Gary
You are so darn stupid that you failed to realize that you are the political zealot?
Go look in the mirror. Shameless, you have tried unsuccessfuly, so many times to defend political corruption.
What a shameless character you are.
You know I have never used the S word on this forum to describe people whose comments I disagree with. I make an argument expressing my position as to why I disagree, comments like yours are easy to make, they require no thought of sound reason. I do not need your advice where to look, I do not look in mirrors to know who I’m or to question my beliefs. What do you mean that I tried to unsuccessfully, so many times to defend political corruption, lol, really. Do you know what Political corruption is, do you think it is based on your assumptions and perceptions coupled with blind Partisan beliefs, you have a good day.
