Ex-police officer Derek Chauvin charged with second-degree murder in George Floyd’s killing, three other officers involved also charged

All four officers involved in the police killing of George Floyd on May 25 will face criminal charges — three for the first time, according to the Star Tribune.

Arresting officer Derek Chauvin pressed his knee to Floyd’s neck for eight minutes and 46 seconds and ordered him to “relax” as the 46-year-old black man repeated, “Please, I can’t breathe.” Chauvin was arrested on May 26 on third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter charges.

Minneapolis Attorney General Keith Ellison now plans to pursue second-degree murder against Chavin, the Star Tribune reported. He is expected to make an announcement later Wednesday.

The three other officers at the scene — Tou Thao, J. Alexander Kueng, and Thomas Lane — had so far only lost their jobs, but will now be charged with aiding and abetting murder, sources told the Star Tribune. The newspaper cited law enforcement sources familiar with the case who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

People may think this will bring equality, sadly it won’t. We are more divided in this country than ever before. In the 60’s and 80’s there was racial tension, the only difference we didn’t have politicians that endorsed the violence. Sad this man died under these horrible circumstances, but neither men had a good personal reputation.
Does it warrant him being murdered, absolutely not. But this isn’t about George Floyd anymore. He has become the poster boy for more violence not peace. More division not unity. Looking at the violence and looting and fear coming from this is making only more hate not only between some black and whites but across political parties. This is not going to make people change their minds or hearts on social issues, this is going to make people more angry. Used to be proud to say I’m an American, not anymore.

Ibo France I am not after your post this time, it is just to say you are right about “for the rest of their natural life”. Mankind believes that true Life in the body, but that is a false belief

The God of Love and Holiness is our True Life, but only if He is connected to us, through conscience. This Life is made up of the traits of Love; if those policemen had those traits in them, George Floyd might have been alive today

Those men acted against God’s Will and there is a great punishment for them, not so much in the body–where they still have the privilege to repent–which I doubt they will because Satan is the demon of their conscience; he doesn’t easily give up the fight against the soul of man

If those guys leave their body with that condition of conscience, mind, heart, and soul, they are in for eternal darkness, completed, separated from the Light of our Holy God. George suffered for 9 minutes, but their suffering will be deservingly eternal

We are hearing about systemic racism, and how things need to change. But give a close look, they are all democrats in the state of Minnesota. Both senators are democrats,
A.Klobuchar she was A.G before, the now A.G.Kieth Ellison was a congressman. The governor together with almost all the mayors Democrats.May they are the ones that need to be voted out.But don’t depend on blacks to do that.

My fellow blacks,When I give my views.I am first of all a follower of Christ.I will not knowingly Iie to any one in making my point.U don’t defend a lion, just set it free. The late Pat Stevens M.P. for Marigot always quoted the late Prime Minister for Trinidad and Tobago, Dr.Eric Williams.
    “Facts and figures don’t lie.”
Now I am making this bold statement, and I will also prove it,and I dare any one to prove me wrong.

The REPUBLICAN PARTY has always been on the side of blacks in the U.S.

At the formation of the Republican party, it was not a political party, but an ABOLITIONIST movement. It was to free blacks from slavery. And that’s Y the first Republican president Abraham Lincoln was the one to announce FREEDOM for blacks. It was not a democrat, although it was in existence long before the Republican party. Some will say, he did it for the blacks to join his forces.The. fact is,that is Y we have a Republican party, to free blacks from slavery.
    …..I will continue

It pays to know Jesus Christ as Lord and personal Savior.A person who is saved, will love his fellow man,and will never judge him by the color of his skin.Because color is just skin deep. What really matters, is the content of one’s character.
The word of God admonishes us by saying.
“If your enemy hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For by doing so, he himself will have a change of heart…Romans 12:20.
So if the policemen had a taste of God’s love in their hearts, the man would be alive today.
A few yrs ago, my wife and I were going to take her visiting sister from New Jersey back to N.Y and we had tire problems. It was close to midnight. A police car stopped by, and he put a light at the front and one at the back of our car as to protect us for incoming traffic. He stayed with us while waiting for roadside assistance until he receivedla call. You know what? He was a White man. A white gentle caring police officer.

This scumbag and others like him in the US police force black white whatsoever in my opinion should be sent to death row on criminal charges even that useless fake president should be sent to jail thanks God in November he will be out of office seating on his big fat sweaty backside and big mouth.

@ man bite dog I endorse your blog though I also believe that people like you should also be sent on death row for criminal charges and for helping and abetting a criminal regime like the one in Dominica. I just can’t understand how is that you all find all kinds of fault with Trump but so damn blind to a Roosevelt Skerrit, who is far worse than Trump. Man leave American politics for Americans because they are well able to handle and deal with their problem no matter how racist of evil Trump is. Deal with your corrupt and evil government you in bed with sacwe hypocrite and modie!

What is most egregious Is the fact that when one of the other police officers who helped hold down George Floyd told officer Chauvin that George didn’t gave a pulse and he should be turned over, Chauvin said, ” No” and kept his knee on the neck for 3 additional minutes. This represents the callous disregard some policemen have in doing their work because they believe they will be protected and defended by their own and the system. It’s an us against them mentality. Our politicians and legal system have contributed to that travesty of law and order. It has to end now, not later as policemen are citizens just like the rest of us. I’m happy that there are arrests and charges but one unconvinced white juror can prevent a guilty verdict from being reached. Let’s hope not

Meanwhile a man was killed in the possi police station by police officers and up to now the case is dangling. Police don’t show up to court, the DPP cannot make a case and everyone quiet. Every Dominican should shut there mouth about Floyd. Politicians bribing folks police report made yet no investigation and charges. We are living in a country where many people just there to collect a paycheck and some to get rich and pretending to care about the wider society. We allow lawlessness in every rank of our state so i am not sure that this would mean anything to our society.

Ok that’s very good news but that’s in America. But when will we get justice from those criminals, thieves and money launderers and more, that are running things here aided by people in top position like this Guyanese woman and the police commissioner, his deputy and evil inspectors? Do we have to do like angry protestors in the US did to get justice? George Floyd could not breathe to defend himself but thank God we can breathe and now is the time to help change things

I hope justice will be swift. All four of these thugs in blue suits should be placed behinds bars for the rest of their natural lives. Urgent reforms of the police forces, more specifically, some tactics and techniques that are used in making an arrest, should be outlawed (choke hold, knee to the neck, etc.).
