The Dominica Basketball Association will be hosting an International Basketball Association (FIBA) Level 1 Clinic on April 27-28. The Clinic’s objective is to provide comprehensive training for referees through a combination of practical and theoretical sessions. Referees will undergo physical assessments, practical exercises, and theoretical instruction over two days.
The primary focus of the training is to familiarize referees with FIBA’s officiating standards and to equip them with the necessary skills for development, with the support of a dedicated team. The key goals of the Clinic include empowering referees, delivering FIBA lectures and practical training on mechanics and signals, and providing feedback through post-game analysis and video reviews.
The Clinic will be held at the Dominica Olympic Committee Office in Bath Estate, located opposite the Patrick John Football House, from 9am to 5pm on both days. Individuals interested in pursuing a career in refereeing are encouraged to participate in this training opportunity. The Clinic will be conducted by Nick Nicholas, a Dominican residing in St. Lucia who holds the title of Level 1 FIBA Instructor.
The Referee Clinic is proudly sponsored by the Dominica Olympic Committee.
