Fibroids, a growing concern for women in the Caribbean

On Tuesday 19th November 2019, Imani Sorhaindo, founder of KMT Rising, will be delivering a free public talk on Fibroids and Holistic Strategies for womb-wellness, at UWI auditorium at 7 pm.

Fibroids are non-cancerous growths that develop in or on the outer surface of the womb affecting an estimated 171 million women worldwide and if left untreated, can significantly affect a woman’s quality of life and her health. The talk will cover Ms. Sorhaindo’s own personal experiences with fibroids, explore some of the possible factors contributing to the development and accelerated growth of fibroids, and discuss a range of less invasive, holistic strategies which women can consider for general health improvement and womb-wellness.

Ms. Sorhaindo, a qualified Holistic health practitioner, teacher and lecturer, believes fibroids are a growing global public health issue, and many women do not feel adequately equipped to make informed decisions about fibroid prevention and elimination; therefore there is an urgent need to raise awareness amongst women, their families and health practitioners.
