Five women will grace the stage and compete in the third edition of the Mothers of the Bible Mini Skit Competition. The competition is organized by the Hunger and Thirst After Righteousness Drama Group and will be held at the People Pentecostal Family Church in Goodwill on May 9, 2025, from 7 PM.
Director of the Hunger and Thirst After Righteousness Drama Group and Main Coordinator of the Mothers of the Bible Mini Skit Competition, Cathy Augustine, said the aim of the competition is to educate and inspire the participants and the audience to learn about the roles, virtues, and faith of various mothers in the Bible.
She added, that it is important to celebrate and observe mothers, so this event will celebrate motherhood ahead of Mother’s Day. The competition is free of cost to the public.
“It honors the impact of mothers, drawing [parallels] between biblical figures and modern-day mothers, in terms of faith, sacrifice, and strength. It also encourages biblical literacy. It encourages participants to study and to engage more deeply with the Bible. It promotes spiritual growth, reflecting on these women’s lives which can inspire personal growth and stronger faith among participants,” Augustine noted.
According to Mrs. Augustine, the competition unites the community and church as a whole and fosters fellowship. ”So many people usually turn out for this event as it is [a] fun and friendly activity between church and group settings.”
The five participants from different churches around Dominica competing for the title of Mothers of the Bible are Rashida Serrant Davis of the People Pentecostal Family Church (PPFC) representing Eve, Christmar St. John Ogebalugo of the Redeemed Christian Church of God representing Bathsheba, Brianna Lewis of the First Love Church
representing Rachel, Leona Paul of Gospel Light Temple Church representing Hagar, and Frances Sampson of the Warner Church representing Ruth.
During the competition, they will compete in dramatic presentation and speech rounds.
