Shard Jerome Francois from Wesley who resides at Fond Cole was remanded into custody at the Dominica State Prison after being slapped with a charge of attempted murder.
According to police sources, the 24-year-old appeared before a Roseau Magistrate’s Court on Monday where the charge was read to him.
Francois was not required to enter a plea since the matter is an indictable offense and is expected to be heard at the High Court of Justice before a judge and jury.
Police sources further told Dominica News Online (DNO) that the matter stemmed from a shooting incident which occurred at Fond Cole at about 9:30 PM on April 9, 2025, involving 27-year-old Curdel Joseph of the same community.
The preliminary inquiry into the matter was set for August 1, 2025.
This year is gearing up to be one of the bloodiest in Dominica if the following trend continues.
What is causing this murderous mania? Is it the daily economic hardship of life which is leading to hopelessness?
The proliferation of illegal guns, the ever rising unemployment, the soaring drug abuse, the police brutality, the growing impoverishment, the ever present miserable life, are all contributing factors of the despondency hanging Dominicans.
Too many young and middle-aged Dominicans live outside the circumference of a gratifying life.
To all Dominicans: The good thing is – Hope is eternal; this too shall pass as nothing lasts forever!
Thank you DNO,that is how those reports are supposed to be ,Short and Sweet.
What is sweet about attempted murder. What could we expect from a person who exist on instinct only.
