The era of compatible, legacy and scalable computing systems has long gone the way of the dinosaur. Adaptability and agility are the order of the day in today’s world of Information Technology.
While enlightenment and instructions on “older” computing systems like mainframe, Linux and Windows are prudent from a foundational standpoint, today’s IT schools need to focus on more relevant applications and concepts like Cloud Computing, Cyber Security, Database Management, Data Mining, Network Administration, IT Incident Management and ofcourse AI.
Agility is the order of day in a field where specialists are one bit and byte from being irrelevant and redundant. Being a huge believer in the expression which states “if it’s free, it’s for me”, I definitely encourage our young and legacy brothers and sisters of the soil to explore this enticing sounding opportunity as a potential gateway to a very exciting and rewarding IT career.
This is a commendable initiative, providing the participants understand that the 18 hour training course is intended as an “introduction” to computer repairs.
All too often, the introduction to a skill is afterwards considered a fully fledged qualification. Skills take years to acquire.
