Girl Guides of Dominica World Thinking Day activities celebrating 100 years of friendship

The Girl Guides Association of Dominica is commemorating a century of celebrating “World Thinking Day,” with this year’s theme focusing on “Friendship.”

A media release from the association said that the week-long observance features several notable events from February 22-27:

On Sunday, February 22, a special commemorative Mass will be held at the Roseau Cathedral. The ceremony will be attended by Her Excellency Sylvanie Burton, President of the Commonwealth of Dominica, who also serves as the Chief Guide, along with her husband, Mr. Burton. The National Scouts Organization will also participate in this service.

Monday, February 23, will feature a Centennial Panel Discussion titled “Bond That Time Could Not Break,” taking place at the UWI Auditorium and available via live stream on Facebook.

On February 24, participants will engage in arts and poster creation activities celebrating the milestone.

Thursday, February 26, is designated as National Pride Day, encouraging all members and alumni of the Girl Guides Organization of Dominica to wear their formal uniforms, including Girl Guides, Rangers, Brownies, and Rainbows, to showcase their pride.

The week concludes on February 27 with a Talent Show, a grand finale event at St. Martin Secondary School, highlighting the diverse talents of the youth in celebration of the organization’s 100-year history.
