Gordon Henderson’s sage advice: Find a solution for Trilla G, ‘TODAY!”

In light of recent developments in the  Ultimate Soca Champion Competition, veteran musician Gordon Henderson has publicly voiced his support for Trilla G, who recently withdrew from the upcoming show in Trinidad and Tobago. Henderson took to FaceBook earlier today to highlight what he sees as the significance of Trilla G’s participation, not just for the artist, but for the broader Dominican music community as well.

Henderson, who has enjoyed a long and distinguished career as Exile One frontman, and solo artist, expressed his deep concern over Trilla G’s withdrawal, stating, “I want to express my heartfelt appeal for Trilla-G’s reinstatement in the Caribbean Soca competition.”

He articulated that the loss of Trilla G from the event represents a missed opportunity for Dominica to shine on a larger stage, emphasizing the potential impact on Bouyon music and the Dominican community.

The recent announcement of Trilla G’s withdrawal was reportedly met with speculation and assumptions from the public. The artist’s team promptly issued a statement to clarify the situation, confirming the withdrawal while addressing the circulating rumors they deemed “false.”

Henderson, in his statement, acknowledged that there may well be complexities involved, particularly pertaining to “ownership of the song—often referred to as the ‘work and master’—[being] divided among four knowledgeable individuals,” though the artist’s team stated that this was a non-factor.

Moreover, Henderson lamented the potential consequences of these misunderstandings, stating, “Such issues are regrettable, especially considering our past experiences in the Bouyon industry.”

He urged the relevant parties, including the four songwriters involved and the government, to convene an urgent meeting to address the issues stifling Trilla G’s participation.

“I earnestly urge the four stakeholders involved and our government to come together for an urgent meeting—like TODAY!” he emphasized, underscoring the need to secure Trilla G’s rightful place in the competition.

“Let’s unite to support our talent and showcase the best of Dominica!” declared Henderson.

As of press time, there has been no direct public response by the artist or his team, to Henderson’s weigh-in.

Pride or false pride? Which is it? How much value is the Soca Monarch competition or winner going to add to the quality of life of the average Dominican.

Governmental and personal focus should be on the shady and consequential actions of the current US administration whose no holds bar austerity rampage is certain to reverberate far and wide, including right here in Dominica.

Basically, no more trickle down economics to help the “least of those” in America and the world, including Dominica.

Let’s focus on being self sufficient and resilient!!! Chanting some prayers and hymns to the Most High for help and deliverance is more prudent in this time of attrition.

Allocating time and talent to sing in these trying times to put a struggling Dominican on “the map” might be a waste of time!!!

Sorry Mr. Henderson but why should the government get involved? Do we need the government involvement in everything? Can individuals not resolve their own disputes without interference from the government? Once the government gets involved everyone then says it is political.

Does Gordon Henderson truly know the story behind the dude’s withdrawal? All we know is what Trilla-G has said in public, not that we really care or we should care. Gordon should have kept quiet until he is satisfied that he knows all there is to know.

Trilla-G’s withdrawal is a non-issue, by the way. We did not need his presence on that stage to facilitate the penetration of Bouyon into that market because we have already done it. So, his absence, is inconsequential.
