The Ministry of Tourism, in partnership with the Discover Dominica Authority (DDA), will organize the 2025 Cruise Stakeholders Symposium on Wednesday, July 23, and Thursday, July 24, 2025, at the Goodwill Parish Hall, beginning each day at 9:00 AM.

This yearly gathering brings together essential participants in Dominica’s cruise industry, including tour guides, taxi drivers, vendors, hair braiders, and other frontline workers, to discuss current developments and future opportunities within cruise tourism.

A DDA release listed the focus areas for the 2025 event as:

– Emerging Trends in the Cruise Sector
– Shore Excursion Preferences
– Excellence in Customer Service
– Health and Wellness for Tourism Service Providers
– Access to Financing and Business Development Support

According to the statment,  the symposium will feature presentations from experts at local, regional, and international levels, along with a virtual Cruise Industry Panel featuring top executives from various cruise lines.

Marva Williams, CEO and Director of Tourism at the Discover Dominica Authority, stated, “The Cruise Stakeholders Symposium is a vital platform that brings together the people who serve as the face of Dominica’s cruise experience. As we prepare for the upcoming season, this gathering offers an opportunity to align our efforts, share critical updates, and strengthen the quality of service that visitors receive.”

“The event provides access to valuable insights from regional and international experts, and also reinforces our shared commitment to excellence, professionalism, and innovation within the sector. We encourage all stakeholders to take full advantage of this opportunity to connect, learn, and position themselves for greater success in the evolving cruise tourism sector,” she continued.

All cruise industry stakeholders are invited to participate. To confirm attendance, interested individuals can register via https://forms.gle/FZcYk4eKt9mX9B66A or contact Cory Sergenton at 255-8249 or 255-8248.

This dubious regime in Dominica is operating at record pace for convening and attending symposiums, summits, seminars, meetings and conferences. This is ALL in an effort to give the impression that things are happening.

After all these, has the average citizen seen or feel an improvement in the quality of his life? The answer is a resounding NO! Most still continue to live from hand to mouth. Crime, poverty, unemployment, NCDs continue to be perennial problems. Dominica still persists in having the lowest tourist/visitor arrival in the sub-region.

The country needs a paradigm shift. To accomplish this we need to change the present corrupt, toxic, overly partisan administration and replace it with one of integrity, industry, impartiality and productivity.
