Omisi Odigie, an adult male resident of Hagley, Grand Bay, has been fined following his guilty plea in a firearm-related case. The charges stem from his possession of one Taurus G2 9mm pistol and 12 rounds of 9mm ammunition without a valid license.
Odigie appeared before a magistrate’s court in Roseau today and pleaded guilty to the firearm and ammunition charges.
The court imposed a fine of EC$10,000 on the firearms charge, with a default sentence of six months’ imprisonment if the fine is not paid immediately. While no additional penalty was imposed for the ammunition charge, the court handed down a suspended sentence of three years’ imprisonment. This sentence will be activated if Odigie is found guilty of any firearm-related offense within the next three years.
Odigie was represented by attorney Wayne Norde.
MEME you are a complete Jack are, gone mad.Parliament make laws signed by the President.Skerrit cannot make laws go read your constitution a. hole.Penalities are determined by the Judge or Magistrate according to law..A warning is a conviction, because it is recorded in the previous conviction register.I agree 100% with Ibo France and L C Mathew.Years ago in the 70’s during the dread act conviction for firearm was 7 years in jail, conviction for ammunition was also 7 years. If Skerrit was making laws a. holes like MEME would never be able to post their bs on DNO,they rejoice and celebrate when someone is shot dead in Dominica.MEME should tell the criminals shoot the police.
we not ready to solve the gun problem in Dominica yet. this guy should get 5 years for the gun 5 years for the ammunition to be served separately and upon release 15 years probation. gun bullistics should be screened for criminal activities and if confirmed another 10 years tack on jail time. we have to send a message to stop the illegal gun behavior.

Read My Comment.
Dominica is a joke. Skerrit is a joke, Blackmore is worse, the court system is not ready yet.
We are at the mercy of criminals.
What a failed and highly corrupt country.
MEME
Guns are instruments of death. All firearms are made to kill. There should be legislation in place that anyone who is found with an illegal firearm receives mandatory jail time. That sentence by the jackets s much too lenient. A strong message must be sent to all those who engage in this criminal activity.
So all the bragging by LIAR Skerrit and those in the failed CDPF, about being tough on those found with unlicensed firearn is just a dam FARCE.
That’s why this government needs to go. Who cares about the lives of those of us who are unarmed?
I never believed Skerrit. This LAZY braggart and compulsive liar, lies even in his dreams.
EC$10 000.00? What a doggone shame. It that a deterrent or an encouragement?
My friend had it been me, the law on the book would have long been EC$250 000.00 and 20 years imprisonment. It’s safer to feed you in prison, than for you to claim ONE more life on this corrupted piece of rock called Dominica .
