Gregory Riviere, who has been described as the International Secretary of the Dominica Labour Party (DLP), has praised China for leading in global peace and civilization.
He spoke to China Daily, China’s only national English newspaper that is owned by the Chinese Communist Party, during a visit to the Museum of Chinese Gardening and Landscapes Architecture in Beijing.
He told China Daily that he was impressed by the peacefulness of the museum.
“What impressed me the most is the peacefulness and hence the reason why I think China should continue to lead as it relates to global peace and civilization,” he said.”China is a leader. “
He also thanked China for assisting in Dominica’s development and its recovery after Hurricane Maria devastated the island in September 2017.
“Thank China for the contribution that they continue to make in my country,” Riviere said.
“China stepped in and helped us rebuild our country, and today if you come to Dominica you will not recognize the passage of Hurricane Maria, so (we) really want to thank China in a very big way.”
Riviere was in China attending the Global Civilizations Dialogue Ministerial Meeting, a two-day event held last week, which attracted over 600 attendees from 140 countries and regions.
In his interview with China Daily, Riviere wore a shirt with the words “Labour Still the Best Choice” written on it.
The Global Civilizations Dialogue Ministerial Meeting was held under the theme “Safeguarding Diversity of Human Civilizations for World Peace and Development.”
During the meeting, Chinese President Xi Jinping said that China is ready to work with other countries in building a global network for dialogue and cooperation among civilizations, according to the Xinhua News Agency.
He gave his pledge that China will work with other countries to champion equality, mutual learning, dialogue, and inclusiveness among civilizations.

Yes the world was a real peaceful place during the wuhan virus pandemic that started because of their poor handling of their labs, further spread by their selfish policies of not accepting their fault from the outset, limiting information to the rest of the world and trying to silence anyone sounding the alarm, shutting down internal transport while allowing flights to leave their airports to international destinations, hiding the death toll so people didn’t realize how serious the virus was etc etc
