Former Prime Minister of Grenada, Dr. Keith Mitchell, suffered a collapse while speaking to supporters of the New National Party (NNP) during a gathering in Happy Hill on Monday.
As reported by stvincenttimes.com, Dr. Mitchell had organized the meeting to provide his remarks on the current budget situation in Grenada.
The report noted that moments prior to his collapse, Dr. Mitchell was heard saying, “Brothers and sisters, I am (blacking out),” prompting cheers from some audience members who mistakenly believed he was announcing his withdrawal from politics.
“In a response, The Office of the Prime Minister of Grenada says they are aware of the sudden collapse of Dr. The Rt. Hon Keith Mitchell, Member of Parliament for St. George Northwest at an event at the Happy Hill Secondary School,” the article continued.
Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell expressed his hopes for Dr. Keith Mitchell’s swift recovery and conveyed his best wishes to him and his family, urging the nation to include Dr. Mitchell in their prayers.
A leader has to know when to call it QUIT..

Absolutely agree! Politics seems to be very intoxicating. Too many politicians want to overstay their time. Dr. Mitchell should do as Dr. Keith Rowley has done for he has nothing more to prove. I wish him a speedy recovery to full health.

Some of these politicians do not know when to stop. Once they tase the flowing ice-cream and gravy train that flows to their bank accounts and personal interests while in politics, they then act like they can do nothing else in life but politics. It’s a public service job like any other civil servant so know when to retire and go mend a farm or go fishing ion the Caribbean Sea. There are enough citizens to carry on without you. You did not inherit an estate, give it a rest!
