The Government of Guyana has pledged swift and decisive action following the discovery of 11-year-old Adrianna Younge’s body in a pool at a hotel in Region Three Thursday morning.

According to an article on dpi.gov.gy President Mohamed Irfaan Ali had this to say during a Facebook post.

“I have asked the Commissioner of Police to assemble a special team to lead the investigation into all the circumstances surrounding 11-year-old Adrianna Younge.”

He also vowed that justice would be served with the full weight of the law.

We must uncover the full truth of everything that transpired, and no resource or effort will be spared in doing so. Whatever specialised resources are required to determine every aspect of the events and circumstances will be provided,” he added.

Furthemore, the article stated that the heartbreaking news of the girl’s death, which ended after hours of anxious searching, has plunged the nation into deep mourning.

Earlier Thursday, President Ali spoke to Younge’s mother and pledged his government’s support to get to the bottom of the matter.

The president also called for a detailed report from the Guyana Police Force, documenting all actions taken since the initial investigation.

In the meantime, The Ministry of Human Services and Social Security, led by Dr Vindhya Persaud, remains on the ground, providing psychosocial support to Younge’s grieving family and coordinating with law enforcement.

A team of social workers is also on the ground to assist.

Public outcry continues to build as citizens express their grief and frustration.

President Ali stated that the state’s response will not end with the investigation.

President Irfaan Ali presides is part of a government and country that are infamous for racism and class discrimination. Let me note for the record that this not start with his ascension to the pinnacle of political power. My angst with him is that he has done nothing or very little to change the status quo.

Now a national election is nigh, the electorate is angry and restive, Eve more need over the unnatural death of th 11 year young child, Irfaan Ali is so concerned. Yes, politics at its best!

The victim’s family ave accused the police of doing their best to obfuscate ad mislead. The police force is untrustworthy.

Despite all the shenanigans by the police, the racism, the classism, I hope the grieving family receive quick justice. This incident is just inconsolable.

We pray for strength for the family of this child. Wickedness is like a rain shower; it only last for a time. Jesus is coming back to establish righteousness and peace. Amen

Guyana’s situation reminds me of “my parlrep send me” police recruiting, and promotion of political party loyalists in the police force going on in Dominica..

If you listened well to some of the residents of this part of Guyana, re the compromised police force, it is just the same as we have here on island. A police force which is in the hands of corrupt politicians.
