discovery day then independent, both were a success with no serious incident reported. but truly speaking Dominica is an orphan. Well done all
Happy Independence to my fellow Dominicans…
Forty one years of anything is a great achievement. Dominicans should be proud of this awe-inspiring attainment. UNITY should be our motto for UNITED WE RISE and DIVIDED WE FALL; DIALOGUE our catchword as no one person has a monopoly on knowledge and even a fool has good ideas sometimes. Sadly, on this the most important day in our storied history, Dominica is most divided by narrow, hyper-partisan politics. This has severely stunted the growth of the country. Too many of our brothers and sisters are struggling just to exist. We have the resources to overcome this wretched, poverty-stricken life but we need the political will. We must replace this complacent and corrupt, current regime with visionary people, with refresh ideas, with white hot, fiery patriotism.
Independence from Britain was a mistake, Dominica was better off as a colony of Britain.
Happy Discovery Day also, which brought her into civilization, that was in the year 1493, 526 years ago.
It was also on a Sunday, which means “Domingo” in Spanish, hence we say Dominica.
Happy Independence to all Dominicans wherever we are. Happy 41st.
Its a pity those who made it possible are all forgotten. But that’s life.
You do good and you move on. A wise man once said that the evil that men do live after them but the good is often buried with their bones. But not being so wise I say that sometimes the good that you do is buried before you.
We know how to bury good deeds people while they are still alive.
