Heavy rains cause flooding in parts of Dominica on Monday

A scene at the Sari Sari River on Monday afternoon

Heavy rains lashed parts of Dominica late on Monday causing rivers to burst their banks, especially on the southeastern coast of the island.

Flooding was reported at the Rosalie and Sari Sari Rivers.

Motorists traveling in that part of the island are asked to excercise caution.

In an alert on Monday afternoon, Caribbean Online Weather (COW) reported that latest satellite imagery shows overcast skies and rainfall continue over portions of the Lesser Antilles.

In a 6:00 pm advisory on Monday, the Dominica Meteorological Service said weak unstable conditions will be affecting the area tonight into tomorrow.

“As a result of the increased moisture and instability, cloudy to overcast conditions, light to moderate showers and possible isolated thunderstorms can be expected during the period. People in areas prone to flooding, landslides and falling rocks should be on the alert,” the Service stated.

    Hello and good evening my people. Well my village is cut off because of a little rain. It’s quite obvious that the Sari Sari and the Rosalie river bridge is to low. The tree limbs blocks the water from passing underneath the bridge which cause it to overflow. We need higher bridges which goes the complete width of the river without any support pillar in the water. How are we making progress when we can’t build a proper bridge.

      Don’t worry Tony, all the village council has to do is ask Gucci for a few nails, screws and rusty shovels. Free of charge, of course. Another problem solved. In a few weeks time the same will happen again.

    Oh my! Our God and His work in this World is so hard to comprehend. Imagine we have had bright sunshine in Toronto, while rivers are overflowing their banks in Dominica. But His Will be done, not ours.

    Hot debate. What do you think? Thumb up 1 Thumb down 11

      @Lizforsatan

      I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that His justice cannot sleep forever.

      P.S. Liz you had me worried. Didn’t see a post from you for months. Thought something tragic happened. Now you are back I realize you couldn’t pay your Internet bill. You got disconnected.

      Well-loved. Like or Dislike: Thumb up 5 Thumb down 1
