Herbal remedy book by two Dominican practitioners launches this week

A new book authored by two native Dominicans aims to enhance the health and prosperity of the island by examining the benefits of herbal remedies for healing and community well-being. Titled “Natural Plant-Based Remedies: Your Gateway to Health, Healing, and Well-Being,” the publication addresses the increasing global demand for natural healing solutions. It discusses the potential adverse effects associated with prolonged use of prescription medications and emphasizes the effectiveness of herbal treatments and medicinal plants.

According to a joint statement, authors Dr. Paula Lockhart, Ph.D, and Renauld Deshamps (Deja), herbal physician, delve into common health issues and present reliable herbal alternatives in the book. They also say that readers can expect comprehensive data on non-communicable diseases and conditions affecting various organs and bodily systems. Additionally, the book highlights the significance of nutrition in the healing process, offering a sample three-week meal plan complete with suggestions and recipes. The final chapter of the book focuses on the scientific backing of several key herbs known for their therapeutic properties.

Lockhart and Deshamps emphasize that nature provides essential resources for enhancing health, fostering family strength, and uplifting communities. Based on the premise that Dominica is rich in natural remedies that can alleviate various health issues, the authors assert that the phrase “Your HEALTH is your WEALTH” should resonate strongly within our culture. Encouraging readers to take an active role in their health journeys, they remind the public that health challenges can hinder the enjoyment of cultural experiences, such as bouyon music and soca dancing, a point that is especially salient during the current festivities of the Independence season.

“Natural Plant-based remedies…” is intended to not only inform and celebrate the island’s tradition of herbal healing but also underscore the importance of natural healing methods in today’s world. Both practitioners advocate for utilizing nature’s resources as a foundational step toward improving individual health, which in turn ripples outward to the collective.

Key features of the book include:
– An examination of non-communicable diseases and corresponding herbal remedies.
– Insights into the impact of food and nutrition on health, along with a sample three-week meal plan.
– Scientific evidence supporting the use of specific herbs for treating various ailments.

This guide, according to its authors, is a call for individuals to embark on the journey toward a healthier and more prosperous life.

“It’s time to reclaim what truly matters: your health,” is their appeal to the community.

The official book launch is slated for Thursday, October 17, at the Alliance Française building, from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM.
Confirmation of attendance is required via WhatsApp/text: 767-612-1011, or WhatsApp: 954-775-7498

Good initiative, 👍 We all need to read at least some of Dr. Laila Africa’s book “African Holistic Health”, a pioneering masterpiece, an eye opener that puts nutrition, herbs and drugs, treatment and dosages into proper perspective.
