Ian Douglas takes up position as new ambassador in Cuba

Ian Douglas

Former Minister for Trade, Commerce, and Entrepreneurship, Ian Douglas who was recently appointed as Dominica’s Ambassador to the Republic of Cuba, left the island today to take up his new position.

Douglas replaces Matthew Walter, the former long-serving Parliamentary Representative for the Paix Bouche Constituency (1995 – 2009) and former Agriculture and Fisheries and Community Development, Gender Affairs and Information Minister.

During an interview on State-Owned DBS Radio, Douglas who will said that he is looking forward to his new role and is committed to strengthening the relations between the two countries. He mentioned that there are some challenges in agriculture and he hopes to have more exchanges with Cuba to expand Dominica’s agricultural industry.

“Our Prime Minister has made the declaration that he wants agriculture to contribute $700 million to our Gross Domestic Product by 2030 and we believe that the Cubans and the technology that [exists] in Cuba can be transferred to Dominica and help us in that respect,” Douglas stated.

“Like the Prime Minister announced way back in December when the new government was put in place that I will be Dominica’s Ambassador to Cuba, in Cuba,” Douglas said during an interview on State-Owned Radio DBS. “I am looking forward to it and like I have always said we have enjoyed good and fraternal relations and relationships with the Republic of Cuba [from] way back in 1979, ever since we have been in opposition.”

The former parliamentary representative for the Portsmouth constituency said he is committed to strengthening the relations between the two countries and to continue to build upon what has already been established.

“We have a great Cuban scholarship program; we can see if we can expand that,” he stated.

Douglas also pointed out that there are some challenges in agriculture and he is looking forward to having more exchanges with Cuba to build up on that, “and to expand our agricultural industry.”

“Our Prime Minister has made the declaration that he wants agriculture to contribute $700 million to our Gross Domestic Product by 2030 and we believe that the Cubans and the technology that [exists] in Cuba can be transferred to Dominica and help us in that respect,” Douglas stated.

Why don’t you shut up, half of Ronald Reagan time in office the man was senile, even to the day he got shot.

So, how could he be such a great commutator, and what does that have to do with the inept, damn liar Roosevelt Skerrit?

Haven’t you heard his wife Nancy performed for him; Ronald was an actor by profession, complicated man who said he did not know there was a problem between black and white people, he did not know prejudist, and discrimination exists in America, why don’t you dog shi., just vanish, stop babbling and blowing fart from your mouth!

You are so damn sick and not even knowing it!

    Con.
Okay ds, so are you insinuating a professor of mathematics with a Ph. D is smarter than an a cardiologists who can go int your stomach remove your bad heart, and replace it with another!

If you have a Ph.D in anthropology, can you compete with me who has BS degree in the science of electrical and electronic engineering?

You might loose, because before I could accomplish my engineering degrees, I had to take other educational classes as part of my prerequisite, of which anthropology was one of them:
Think about that when I tell you I also have an associate of arts in the liberal arts also.
You are pulling crap out of thing air, but does not know anything about the educational system.

Okay, Thomson Fountain has a Ph.D; Lennox Honeychurch also has a Ph.D.
Roosevelt Skerrit has more than them; which of the there doctors are better educated, and which of the three degrees have more value.
Do you mind answering the question above?

    • August 15, 2023

I think Skerrit is better educated than either or. He has been everywhere in the world, very knowledgeable, well-rounded and can relate to all cultures, speaks 40 languages, down to earth, approachable, affable, skillful, can wash, can iron, can clean, soon to have an audience with the Pope of the Catholic Church. You see education is not just book knowledge only. Remember that. You keep extolling all your fake degrees.

        Yea, right!
There is something he is very good at too; which you know but refuse to acknowledge.
There is an old man in Dominica, in his latter years drove a truck: I known him as Chi-Chi Royer, ask Roosevelt what is that crook Chi-Chi Royer to him?
The same Chi-Chi Royer I hear gave Roosevelt – or Skerrit a magic wand, which he used to screw up Dominica! When I was a little boy Chi-Chi Royer came to Wesley playing magic man took our money claimed he was going to turn somebody mother into a lion, or some big monkey, I paid six-pence to see the show, to this very day I have not seen that lion, or monkey.
They say like father like son!
How about him knowing how to move and hide people thing in his deep pocket under the cover of darkness; how about him knowing how to capture everything that is not nailed down, or cement in concretion oui!
I hear he is the only one who has a degree in knowing how to capture wind when it looks like money eh!
        Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahah!

        • August 17, 2023

He is also a good communicator like Ronald Reagan was. How could I forget this important one? He also flies everywhere without being claustrophobic. All these characteristics makes one a Supreme Leader.

  3. August 11, 2023

We are already reigning supreme with the Supreme Leader of Dominica, the Honourable Roosevelt Skerrit. Can’t you tell? If Stevie Wonder can see and tell, what is wrong with all your senses? They must be dirty as usual.

I am not wasting anymore time with you, I always thought you are indeed 5150: (fifty-one-fifty)!
So, let me enlighten you: 50150 is the number of the section of the welfare and institutions code, which allows an adult who is experiencing a mental health crisis to be involuntarily detained for a 72-hour psychiatric hospitalization; when as I have evaluated you to be a danger to others, and yourself.
      You are actually mentally ill!
I’ve taken quite a few classes in psychology, up to a level of abnormal psychology, and I can tell you right now if you believe the crap you wrote regarding Roosevelt travels, you are indeed mentally ill.

If you believe traveling experiences can cause someone to become academically, and institutionally educated, something is definitely wrong with you!

I been to places in the world, where I saw interesting things, and spoke with people whose name I forgot within months of talking to them, and the places I saw has all but faded from my memory!

That is the reason UWP is always in the yard. How do you compare a medical doctor with a doctor in agriculture and a doctor in economics. They hold a PhD in different fields. Fontaine has a PhD why is he not working in a hospital?Because he knows nothing about medicine. When it comes to to education and PSYCHOLOGY Fontaine is lost. Why after so many years with IMF Fontaine contract was not renewed and he cannot get a job in the region? How is Fontaine more educated than Skerrit,in what?

“How do you compare a medical doctor with a doctor in agriculture and a doctor in economics. They hold a PhD in different fields.”
Right here you are proving your ……, getting into into subjects where you don’t know what the hell you are talking about.
Guy one can obtain a Ph.D in Mathematics, English, Agriculture, Social Science Psychology, even in home economics; in just about any discipline. However where it pertains to medicine becoming an MD you are in a different category, and one does not need a Ph.D to earn a medical degree.
There are people called doctor: i.e functioning in the field of psychiatry, they can counsel mentally ill people; however, they cannot prescribe any form of medication to their patient, an MD practicing psychiatry have to write the prescriptions.
I don’t know where the hell you come form, unable to write a damn sentence, you don’t have any concept of punctuation’s!

“But I am sure you will agree that their MDs who have gone further to obtain a PHD”
But ds, are you stupid or something?
A PhD is a Doctor of Philosophy, while an MD is a Doctor of Medicine.
A PhD can be done in any field of study, while an MD is restricted to medicine.
A PhD requires original research and a thesis or dissertation, while an MD involves clinical practice and a portfolio of published work.
A PhD is generally lab-based and lasts a minimum of 3 years, while an MD lasts 2-3 years and combines research and practice.
Mind you by the time an MD is finished studying it between prerequisites and major class it takes no less than eight years, by the time intern is added to completion ten years is consumed!
Whereas we know that Ph.d generally insinuates philosophy, we know one can these these days earn a Ph.D in home economics; mathematics, English history or any individual subject
The way you are thinking well one whit a Ph. d is of higher intelligence, or smarter than…

ds; there are lawyers who’s practice are limited to victims of accidents, that’s all they do; however some of those same lawyers have Ph. D’s in psychology, and though they are called doctor, they cannot write a prescription for their client or treat them medically
However, if their client claims psychological damage caused by the accident in addition to any other injury, the lawyer may be able to argue their client now suffers from psychological trauma.
Note: Psychological trauma is an emotional response to a horrible event such as accident, rape, or natural disaster:

Mr. liar, ds, I did not attend any secondary school in Dominica, I went to Hill Secondary in Antigua; nevertheless, my late brother Police Inspector Almore Robin – Royal Antigua police force attended SMA, in Dominica, and I know our parents paid plenty more than that, and it was not by semester, if memory serves me correctly it was yearly.

Back then $13.00 was big money and not everybody could afford it. Some parents did make the ultimate sacrifice which I applaud them for to this day. I paid US$600.00 a month for my daughter’s secondary education today which most of us can afford today. Compare that amount to the $13.00 a semester our parents paid back then. Life has really changed. But as I said $13.00 was big money back then. Buying bakes at break time from Miss Marie for 25cents was also big money back then. Students living in hostels in Roseau to attend High School paid $90.00 a semester. That also was big money for their parents back then but they made that sacrifice. So you tell me where were they getting that money from to send their kids to universities back then? Unless they were DR. McIntyre, Dr. Winston or Dr. Griffin or Dr. Watty or Dr. Green. Today I look at friends back then who had all these OLevels and ended up working as civil service clerks. Lack of opportunities and money back then.

ds, all of these doctors studied in Ireland on colonial government scholarship!
Guy like Simon Richards, Dominica’s first resident Ambassador, I know him way back when I was a little boy, I remember the day he left Wesley to go to attend Secondary school in Roseau, I believe he went to DGS.
His mother was one, of the poorest lady in the village, but he was exceptionally smart, Octavie as she was know in the village could not pay for secondary education had it not be for a scholarship, then when time came for him to go to UWI it came via colonial government…

You imply I am disrespectful; I can only dismiss such rhetoric as insignificant hogwash; less than nonsensical, because respect is something people earn; and here is how that works.

Respect for a person is a felling of deep admiration elicited by their abilities, or achievements.

To put it bluntly, whereas you who are nothing more than a want to be Francisco, are contented with the state of Roosevelt corrupted affairs in Dominica, and are afraid to speak out; I am not!

And by the way I was born Francois Etienne Telemaque, I prefer to go Espanol than French: I added my mother maiden name Dods after she died!

So, it is hard for you to thief me name oui!

Have YOU seen the CM’s certificate of study in the US. No, you haven’t! The same way we will never see a certificate of an independent audit of our CBI program. 20 years ago I told all you that this man is a con-artist. He provides more evidence by the week to prove my point. And how about our last 4 elections…? All above board, I guess. There is nothing more gullible than a Skerrit supporter.

For your information Mr. dog feces, I do not have any degrees in health(or health science) if that’s your insinuation or apparently implying.
Nevertheless, just to remind you; I majored in Electronic and Electrical Engineering respectively, earning degrees in both disciplines.
Along the way, I earned a degree in the Liberal Arts.
I did not stay long enough to earn a medical degree, my record pertaining to medicine will show I “walked!” That’s the grade one gets when they drop out of a class or program!
I will also remind you I might just have as much knowledge in medicine to save your life if the opportunity ever comes along.
Don’t give me credit for anything I didn’t earn nor deserve!

Anybody can say they study in the United States; Roosevelt could be like anybody else, but I assure you Roosevelt name is not recorded as a graduate in any institution in the any of the United States of America; and if you don’t believe me asks Roosevelt to show you and the rest of Dominica a certificate, a diploma, or degree of any kind he earned from a university or college even a two year community college in America.

            Trust me he can’t.

He could have cleared the air in Dominica when he took time to throw what looks like a graduating cap without a tassel in the air impressing people he graduated.

Fact is all graduating robes, and caps can be bought in swap meets all over America at graduating time, so what does that prove?
All he had to do on the plat form is present his graduating degree on paper and let someone read it out to the crowed, where it would state in what discipline he graduated.
People go to school, graduating is the thing!

The DLP has controlled of the government for the last twenty-three years. Agriculture was the mainstay of the economy then. Many Dominican families were able to build their own houses, send their children to university, maintain a high standard of living from this one industry.

Alas, here comes star boy of stupidity and destruction. He decimated the once flourishing banana industry; allowed the feeder roads to fall into an unusable state of disrepair; obliterated the agro-processing industry; put no strategic plans in place for the continued growth of this most crucial sector.

This is not a newly born regime. It is a ‘gray hair’ administration. If they could not boost agriculture production for the last twenty three (23) years when again?

Their sudden interest in increasing agricultural output is just farcical.

TBH, it was under the years of UWP that banana began to deminish. We were diversifying from agriculture to tourism. Farmers were compromising what was being shipped. Bad produce, ive even heard in some cases they had put stones in the boxes. As if the market we were selling to would never find out. We killed our own banana industry. to make it worse they could get it cheaper in central and south America, even it theirs were not nice like ours. but yes, things were much better then. People sent their children to school with books and uniforms that they paid for. Today many parents have to beg politicians for those things. shamefully we have fallen.

      • August 9, 2023

So why was it back then that some students left the Academy and Grammar school in the third form because their parents could not afford to continue paying $13.00 a semester and, we were living in a so-called booming banana industry? Explain to me. Then you have Ibo talking nonsense that the banana industry was booming back then and parents were able to send their kids to universities. I guess he is referring to Dr. Mcintrye, Dr. Green, the Lartigues, the Volneys, those parents. Boy, back then a college education was only for the bourgeosies and folks in high positions in Government. Tell me which banana plantation parent back then who sent their kids to America and England to university.

Only the big farmers were able to fully educate their children to university level and we knew who those big farmers were, they were few in numbers. The few scholarships that were available were secretly given to the children of the upper class. Clinton, Dole, Chiquita, UK, EU and the WTO destroyed the backbone of the Dominican agricultural industry by killing the banana industry. It is still rather surprising that that Agriculture can still support the GDP with $274 million dollars annually.

      • August 11, 2023

Who were the big farmers? Please tell me. Were they Dr. McIntyre, Dr. Winston, Dr. Griffin? I thought you said that Dominica was and is poorer than Haiti. So where dem so-called farmers getting money from to sent their phantom kids to universities? Point, if you know any better just keep your mouth shut.

If you are so smart, can you tell me how many Dominicans and who were the Dominicans back then working in the agricultural industry who were able to send their kids to universities? You mean Dr. DON McINTYRE, Dr. Paul whose parents were poor and uneducated, Henry Dyer who first worked at the Court House as a clerk and came from a poor family, the Volneys and the Lartigues. Man, stop writing bulldust. University education back then was catered only for students of bourgeosies, and educated senior and junior clerks in the Government Service or unless you won the Island Scholarship like Dr. Paul. I know of many students back then from the country side who attained 7, 8, 9, 10, O’Levels, came from agricultural parents and ended up working as senior and junior clerks in the Government Service. Man, check you facts before you keep spouting garbage.

With one stroke of a pen, Skerrit kill the Douglas dynasty. Who will reclaim the mantle?

Ian gave it up without a fight. Your Father, Mike and uncle Roosie, with pierro worked tirelessly to brinng labour out of the political wilderness.

They never wavered, with only two seats in parliament , you would have think they would have folded and joined with the UWP. The critics had written off labour party for dead.

UWP came to being because the opportunity was ripped for an alternative, they tried many times to get Pierro to cross the floor, he refused.
Today we all have witnessed the death of the DLP, replaced by the SP (Skerrit Party).the question is can you rise again with LÀBOUR?

Mr. Douglas, you might not be aware but agricultural production has been in freefall in Cuba for decades as a result of outdated equipment, obsolete technology, and fuel shortages which have all combined to drastically reduce foreign exchange earnings impacting on the ability to import basic items like chicken, medicine and diesel so I suspect you might be in for a rude awakening upon your arrival in Cuba which is in no position to help Dominica expend its agricultural industry….

What we have in Dominica today parading as a legitimate government is a concoction of racketeers, thugs, villains, lawbreakers, scoundrels and dimwits.

With a government of that composition, dystopia bounds to reign. The wholesale change of this incumbent administration is a necessity for Dominica to reign supreme once again in the sub-Caribbean.

To hear guys like Ian Douglas and Starboy of Stupidity, Skerrit, vomit garbage about agriculture, is really vexing to people like me, who knew that the Skerrit Labour Party (SLP), saw agriculture as virtually worthless, and a ‘had been’ industry. We all know it was replaced by the selling of passports. It was, (agriculture), and still is, on the back burner of this Skerrit Labour Party.
Question is, was Ian being paid as ambassador during the time he was still in Dominica? Just asking!!!
While Skerrit failed Dominica, Ian is even worse. This guy came from the bowels of labour. He supervised the destruction of the Dominica Labour Party (DLP), by Skerrit, he said nothing and did nothing. He was reduced to a drunken singer…CHORUS “We Shall Not Be Moved”, but Skerrit moved DLP to the grave while he was under his drunken stupor!!
