On February 21, 2025, Dominica’s Cadence-Lypso icon, Gordon Henderson, captivated audiences at Espace la Reprise in Rivière Salée, Martinique with a spectacular performance alongside Simon Jurad and his band, Opération 78.
At the age of 75, Henderson proved that his stage presence and vocal skills remain as vibrant as ever, delivering beloved hits such as “Rosita”, “Aki Yaka,” “Travail pou ayen,” and “Gadé dèyè.” His performance not only showcased his musical talent but also paid tribute to the legends of the Cadence Lypso genre, honoring the late Jeff Joseph and Bill Thomas.
The evening was a colorful celebration of music, with Henderson leading the way and Simon Jurad following him through a diverse program. Jurad, along with his talented band members, including Jean Claude Papite and Jean-Luc Alger, enriched the concert’s dynamic, contributing to the lively atmosphere. Together, they highlighted the rich Creole musical heritage of the Caribbean, making the event a memorable tribute to the region’s iconic artists.
