IN PICTURES: Protests continue in various parts of Dominica

Below are some emerging images of protest activity taking place in various spots around the island.

According to reports, protest action is continuing in Marigot and is also occurring in other parts of the country as protesters continue to press their demands for electoral reform to ensure free and fair elections.

The President of Dominica, Charles Savarin called for peace in an address to the nation.

DNO can verify that students of SMA were unable to complete their exams as a result of the disturbances caused today.

These people from Salisbury make me proud to be a young Dominican; we are courageous people.

Our pleas for electoral reform were ignored. Still, the DLP is bringing hordes of people down to vote in swing constituencies; the majority of them have been away from Dominica for well over 5 years. DLP or not, can you not tell that something is wrong here?

Meanwhile, our dear PM nah say a word about the documentaries or otherwise. Unsightly. After 20 years of mismanagement and corruption, protests are the least. The fish rots from the head.

I am not UWP NOR DLP. I have lived in Dominica for a very long time, and I have never, never ever seen such unrest in the political atmosphere. It actually seems like we cannot let the ballot decide the PM anymore. Can we not all just “Be Silly” as Queen Ifrica said in one of her songs. Lets please just do what the constitution says, obey the laws of the land and VOTE. If u hate Skero, vote him out, if u like Linton, vote him in, if u hate Linton, vote Skero.
    BUT……………….
At the end of it all. Vote and come together to BUILD UP DOMININCA. Casting a negative light on Dominica to the international atmosphere will not help the country no matter who is in power. Do what’s best for this country.

Upstate where; we are not interested if you live Upstate NY or in a gutter, there is political conflict everywhere, you are a damn Roosevelt Skerrit puppet a wolf in sheep clothing.

What do you have to say about all the daily killings in America, what do you have to say about someone with their animalism instincts takes a gun and go into a school and murder their peers?

How many times have that happened in America?

If you pretending to be an American, how do you like having a president who lie at random, and one who said he gropes women, and when he does it they let him; groping is raping!

If you’re ashamed to be a Dominican who cannot see that some change must come to the country, you need to shut your bloody mouth, and stop meddling.

Arrest Linton and his thugs and throw them in jail. If murder is committed, arrest the culprit, throw him in jail, charge him with murder, prosecute him, if convicted, do as Miss Charles did, take him to the gallows and hang him at seven in the morning. da, was Charles Saverin, the current puppet in the State House arrested and hung when Julius was killed during the protests he led back then? It seems that Labour supporters are saying it’s our way it no way. No room for opposing views. So where is the democracy? The opposition wants to bring it back from where Skerritt sent it.

Savarin, this might be the beginning of the end for the corrupted Roosevelt Skerrit.
Corruption, and political evil must come to an end in the country; this is a reminder of the year 1979; Roosevelt and his thirty plus corrupted acolytes must be kicked to the curb; electing Roosevelt Skerrit will not benefit the nation anything!

The status quo will remain the same; the sale of passports will continue, there will be no job creation, the entities Ross Medical School, Colgate Palmolive and all the foreign business, the Tram Company, The Shine Company, and all the local business which went out of business will not return.

Roosevelt is a curse; his  (voodoo) the the blowing of the ram horn in Melisa face is not going to win this election; the people has broken the spell under which they lived for twenty years.

My sister Marcelle Volney, resident of New York City finds it ‘awesome ‘ to cut down but bearing coconut trees that survived Hurricane Maria to block the road to the airport. The Terrorists have caught fires on both sides of the approach to the main airport to deter flight arrivals. Vehicles are being pelted by hooligans who want ‘electoral reform’ two days before a General Election.
DNO has the audacity to call the blocking of access to the islands airport as legitimate protest! It is Highway brigandry by rogues and vagabonds, and hooliganism by supporters of the Opposition United Workers Party. Coming to terms with an electoral loss in a landslide defeat is not always easy to come to terms with.

      Justice who?
Man shut up, Dominica should be a leader in coconut products; in America coconut oil brings in billions; nevertheless, Roosevelt Skerrit destroyed that industry also.
You call yourself Justice; man you are a bloody joke, one who set many murderers free in Trinidad only to go back in the streets the same day you set them free and kill again!

You are no justice, never have and never will be; you are finished, washed up!
You are in oblivion, Roosevelt cannot help you.

      Mr. Volney,

Should they stand by and allow the outgoing PM to steal elections? NO WAY!!!

They should protest and and ensure that fair and free elections are given.

Without that DOMINICA should be closed down as an unviable state. Thanks much for noting.

    • December 5, 2019

@Ann, why not suggest that he simply hand over the Prime Minister’s Seat the Leader of the hooligans?

Give the people what they are asking for? Because of the way they are making that demand?

Then after that, they will continue to do their hooligan conduct for anything and everything because they know they will get what they are asking for.

You people have to be out of your minds, you see. It is just unfortunate that the head psychiatrist in Dominica cannot help you all.

So will the Opposition leader condone these actions if he is elected as the Prime minister? Remember people, God judges evil actions. He won’t allow perpetrators to go unpunished: even if they evade human justice, divine justice will stand. That applies to everyone. What goes around comes around. In the meantime the ISLAND Dominica is being looked at and evaluated as a risky place to do business.

What’s sad is that nobody is addressing the fact that the people are being provoked into seeking and preserving their right to electoral reform. There shouldn’t ever have been a question of that request being denied Because it is the RIGHT thing to do. It is NOT an OPTION or a FAVOUR. IT IS OWED TO THE PEOPLE. Why should they have to fight for it. The people have a right to fair elections. Whoever wins should be the people’s choice be it Labor or UWP. So if the ruling party is confident of winning there should be no problem in free and fair elections. Without electoral reform there are NO FAIR ELECTIONS!!! Let’s not be deluded.

That is what I have been saying all along. How can Lennox condone that kind of behavior and he wants to be the Prime Minister of Dominica?

The man is inspired by “disobedience” and “disrespect”, two top principles that have to be the “norm” in every organization, far more so for Government Authority. How is he going to command those principles, when he, himself does not practice them?

In your opening statement you referred to God as a God of Peace, but remember that he is also a God of war and he will be our right hand in this fight for justice and peace. Sometimes you must have war to create peace!!

      • December 5, 2019

@LawieBawie, don’t be foolish. God is a God of war for His God-fearing people, not His enemies.
And that is who those hooligans, of Lennox Linton, in Dominica are.

God had to fight many battles but for the sake of His people, ancient Israel. His battles were against His enemies, like the hooligans of Lennox Linton.

When God called Gideon to go and fight against the Philistines, Gideon gathered up to 25, 000 soldiers to fight that battle.

But God wanted the glory which always belongs to Him; He made Gideon reduce the army to 300 men, and He commanded them to use “light-torches” instead of spears–it is a longer story, but my point is that God is always among us, but for the sake of His people, not His enemies.

There are many accounts in the Old Testament where he assisted the Israelites in the fight against wicked and oppressive neighboring nations and leaders. I firmly believe that he supports this fight for our rights just as he supported the Children of Israel when they fought for their rights.
