India has extended a helping hand to Jamaica by providing humanitarian assistance to aid in recovery efforts following the destruction caused by Hurricane Melissa. According to a social media announcement from the High Commission of India in Jamaica, approximately 20 tons of relief supplies and aid materials were dispatched to the Caribbean nation via an Indian Air Force aircraft yesterday. The supplies were handed over on November 6.
The relief shipment comprises vital items such as the specialized BHISHM Medical Trauma Unit, power generators, temporary shelters, bedding, mats, kitchen sets, solar-powered lanterns, hygiene supplies, and other crucial resources aimed at supporting Jamaica’s post-disaster rebuilding process.

The transfer of these aid materials was officially conducted by India’s High Commissioner to Jamaica, Mayank Joshi, who handed over the supplies to Jamaica’s Minister of Foreign Affairs & Foreign Trade, Kamina Johnson Smith.
“India stands in solidarity and support with its philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam- world is one family,” said the post.
