Jasmine Schofield finishes 5th in heat

National swimmer Jasmine Schofield competed in Heat 2 of the 100m freestyle at the 2025 PanAm Junior Games, finishing in fifth place with a time of 1:04.05. Although this performance did not qualify her for the finals, it was a commendable effort under the circumstances.

According to a release from the  Dominica Olympic Committee, while sharing her reflections, Jasmine expressed some disappointment with her result but indicated her determination to improve for the upcoming 50m freestyle race. She mentioned that despite having just completed a lengthy swimming season, she put forth her best effort in this race. Jasmine also noted that she has implemented several changes throughout the season and appreciates the progress she has made so far. Moving forward, she intends to focus on refining her technique and building strength as the season concludes.

Her coach, Shaminey Walsh-Dupuis, commented positively on Jasmine’s performance. Walsh-Dupuis reportedly highlighted that although Jasmine’s time was slower than her personal best, she competed strongly despite facing challenges. The coach plans to use this race as a learning experience to prepare Jasmine for her next event, aiming for improved results in the pool.

Jasmine is scheduled to compete in the 50m freestyle on Wednesday, August 13, at 9:00 AM PYT / 8:00 AM ECT. The competition will take place at the aquatics complex of The Paraguayan Olympic Committee located in Olympic Park, Asuncion.
