Kairi FM contributes to cause of Dominica Cancer Society

President of the Dominica Cancer Society Yvonne Alexander and CEO of Kairi FM Frankie Bellot

The Dominica Cancer Society has benefited from a $10,000 cash donation compliments of Kairi FM Group of Companies this week. The donation was made from proceeds of the annual  Ultimate Carnival Last Lap Malkasé event held by Kairi FM at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium Forecourt on Friday, February 16, 2024.

The fundraiser was inspired by CEO of Kairi FM, Frankie Bellot who was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago.

“It is important that people understand what cancer is,” Bellot said while shedding tears at a presentation ceremony held recently. “Cancer doesn’t have no colour, it has no race, it doesn’t have any party. It goes after anyone.”

According to him,  the contribution will help a few more individuals who are in dire need to meet the costs of cancer treatment.

“You must have the money and the resources to fight cancer,” he stated. “You must have support and help.”

Bellot continued, “This is a serious disease and it is killing a lot of people.”

Meanwhile, President of the Dominica Cancer Society Yvonne Alexander thanked Mr. Bellot for his commitment and continued support over the years.

“At the end of the day unless one has the resources to have cancer treated then the possibility is that people will die from a cancer diagnosis,” she noted.

Furthermore, she stated that while cancer is not a death sentence the fact is, one does need the support, the financial resources, the psychosocial support from family and the general community when faced with a diagnosis.

“And so, we are so very grateful to Kairi FM, the CEO, all those who worked behind the scenes, the bands, the individuals, the businesses who contributed to ‘Malkase’,” Alexander stated.

She went on to state that what the Society is trying to mitigate is any member having to decide between necessities such as rent, and utilities, or treatment.

“Or I need the money to feed my family so I am going to buy the groceries rather than pay for treatment,” she explained.

Alexander also appealed to the general public to spread the word that the DCS exists to provide financial support and psychosocial support for those in need.

She said the proceeds will be used for what it is intended for.

“All our accounts, every last penny is accounted for,” Alexander indicated. “Rest assured that the funds are going to be spent for the purposes for which it is intended.”

I know DNO may be averse to publish this post but I will post it anyway. Kairi FM allows itself to become the disinformation machine that gives wings and legs to the sweet lies of Roosevelt led monocracy.

Kairi deserves 0% for objectivity. When there is no objectivity and evenhandedness in the media, this leads to negative societal outcomes. It dumbs down society and fans political polarization.

No radio station nor news entity that shamelessly peddle and propagate the incessant lies and distortions of an oppressive, corrupt ruling regime should lauded with commendations for their disingenuous ‘acts of goodness’. They do more harm to the psyche of the nation than anything else.

The people of Dominica need to get a balanced report on events affecting the country. Too many of these local media entities genuflect to members of the most corrupt government in the English-speaking Caribbean barring none.

The more enlightened citizens are the more informed decisions they would be able to make. Only then we will begin to make progress as a nation.
