May the young man Rest In Paradise!
DNO: Please consider eliminating racial overtones in your reporting. “Youth succumbs to auto accident injuries” may have been sufficient for this headline. The article could continue to say where the youth is from.
That is unless if “Negro youth succumbs to auto accident injuries” would have been the headline had the victim been a negro.

Admin: You may consider the use of the word Kalinago in the story as having racial overtones but that certainly was not our intention. We were simply trying to provide a geographical location for the victim – pretty much the same way we might say “A Marigot youth” or “A Pte. Michel youth”?

DNO I know you are not modifying these days but I wish for the record, you would go back to 15yrs ago and give us an idea of how many of our young men between the ages of 10 yrs to 35 yrs, that have died during the last 15 years, following the death of Pierre Charles. In like manner I also wish you could give us an idea of how many young boys were born and an idea of how many are here this day in Dominica. I am not trying to blame anyone but I just find we losing a lot of our young men in recent times so we could see if there is anything we can do to help our young men live a little longer because if we continue to lose them we will definitely lose our country. Anyways my sympathy to all and I pray God that their hearts would be comforted

We are loosing a lot of our young men in recent times mainly because of poor choices and bad decisions they make. most of our young men today are all into sewo and consuming alcohol. Others ride motorcycles recklessly with no protective gears. Some ride and drive at excessive speeds and the motorcycles even overtake on the left side of vehicles. The shooting and stabbing are as a result of very little respect and regard for human life and it’s because of a justice system which is outdated and has failed us. The statistics I am more interested in is knowing the number of murders we had when hanging was a form of punishment and compare it to the murders since its removal. Young people, please be more wise in the decisions that you make. Call on the Lord and ask for his wisdom, understanding and the power of discernment. Exercise restraint and learn to walk away from trouble.

Though out this very sad events, we have not given a reason why or how this accident happened. Was it alcohol related, speed or falling asleep at the wheel. We ( I do mean Government, Social services, community leaders etc ) take account of what it is that is causing the demise of all our young people.
