
The highly awaited 2025 Kréyol Basketball Championship – Northern Conference begins tonight, Friday, June 6, at the Massacre Indoor Sports Complex, marking the start of four days of regional basketball competition. The event will continue through June 9 and is officially dedicated to two notable Caribbean sports personalities: Joseph “Reds” Perreira and Alington James.
A press release revealed that the series is organized by Kréyol Sports International in collaboration with Caribbean Sports and Sustainable Development (CSSD), In Nature Tours, Creole Heartbeat, and the Dominica Amateur Basketball Association (DABA). It also shared that this event brings together six top-tier clubs from Dominica, Guadeloupe, and Guyana for a vibrant celebration of sport, culture, and legacy.
The tournament begins this evening at 7:00 PM with consecutive games that highlight regional talent in an engaging, family-friendly environment. Spectators of all ages are welcome to enjoy live basketball, music, food, and entertainment in a safe indoor setting.

The 2025 tournament is dedicated to two distinguished personalities in the field.
Joseph “Reds” Perreira – A renowned sports broadcaster and former head of the OECS Sports Desk, recognized for his contributions to Caribbean sports and his support of small-island athletes’ aspirations.
Alington James – A distinguished Dominican sports official and media personality who has captured and preserved the spirit of Dominican sports through decades of service both on the court and behind the scenes.
“Acknowledging the contributions of these two individuals, this tournament celebrates their embodiment of Caribbean sporting spirit,” stated a representative from Kréyol Sports International. “Through competition, culture, and community engagement, we honor their legacies and motivate future generations.”
