
The Government of Dominica will hold an official funeral in recognition of the late Gerald ‘Gerry’ Aird, honoring his remarkable contributions to the nation’s business landscape and development.
Mr. Aird, who previously served as Managing Director of HHV Whitchurch and Co. Ltd., passed away on Friday, July 18, 2025. A media statement by the Office of the Prime Minister described Aird as a “highly respected businessman who helped advance Dominica’s private sector, particularly in tourism, and served as head of the Old Market Trust, overseeing the upkeep of key areas in Roseau.”
During his leadership, HHV Whitchurch significantly diversified and grew its operations, spanning sectors such as duty-free retail, shipping, insurance, travel services, food distribution, and money transfer. The enterprise now employs over 235 individuals.
The funeral service for Gerald ‘Gerry’ Aird is scheduled for 2 PM on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at the Roseau Cathedral, with burial to follow at the Anglican Cemetery.
A national Day of Mourning will be observed on July 29, during which all public buildings’ flags will be flown at half-mast.
The Government of Dominica also expressed its heartfelt condolences to Mr. Aird’s family and all who are grieving his loss.
