Laville laments vagrancy problem at Mahaut market, highlights underlying issues

Cassani Laville, Market Day with a Difference -Mahaut

Parliamentary Representative of the Mahaut Constituency, Cassanni Laville, has raised concerns over the vexing issue of vagrancy at the Mahaut market.

He made the statement while addressing “Market Day with a Difference” in Mahaut on the weekend.

“My friends, we have an issue here with the vagrants. We know that,” he said. “Before every function, major function that we have here, we have a challenge to clean. It’s a challenge that I face, one that the council faces, where we have vagrants along the facility.”

He continued, “It does not work together. Food sale and vagrancy. It does not work well together.”

Laville argues that this is a social issue that needs to be addressed.

“And in some cases it’s linked to a drug issue and a drug abuse issue that we must contend with as well,”  he remarked. “Very sadly, the issues that we had here before,  it’s not mainly about garbage not being collected on time. In some cases, it was. But in many cases, you deal with people, vagrants, who are either hungry or have poor habits in which they themselves are the ones going through this to look for items that could be sold or used, or consumed.”

Laville added, “ This is very sad.”

According to him, this is not dignified, nor a way that people should live, and as a community, this issue needs to be addressed.

” These are children. These are brothers. They are sisters of each other. People that we grew up with. One of them, I played football with him. I have a photo where we were on the same football field, and it hurts to see him. going through this garbage dump, looking for food. We have to address it,” he urged. “And we should not point fingers and say, this is the person who should solve it.  We should all say, I can solve it my way and contribute to this issue that we have.”

According to the laws of Dominica vagrancy is illegal in Dominica, also begging and such, maybe if the police used to actually do their jobs and enforce the laws we wouldn’t have that problem(derp).
Sometimes people are so stupid they even name themselves “stupid or foolishness.” So what can be anticipated from someone named derp which denotes an interjection used to exposed one very own foolishness, or stupidity! The simpleton is talking about vagrancy is illegal in Dominica; that night be: Nevertheless, if there were no set conditions, no cause of the problem, there wouldn’t be any cause for such a law.
The cause of vagrancy in Dominica, is poverty, caused by unemployment!
Roosevelt and his puppets in a so called government is the cause of vagrancy in the country! While Roosevelt Royer Chichi Skerrit and the other crooks in government thrive on the corrupt sale of passports to criminals, the poor term vagrants woke up this morning and many has not yet found anything to eat!

” Cassanni Laville, has raised concerns over the vexing issue of vagrancy at the Mahaut market.”
I wonder if Cassanni is just ignorant; simply stupid, or an all out idiot? If you are not stupid whatever you stupid name is: I want you to understand this; vagrancy is the condition of ” people wandering homeless without regular employment or income.” Vagrants usually live in poverty and support themselves by travelling while engaging in begging, scavenging, or petty theft! It is difficult for me to even try to respond to the garbage you spew in kind. While you an (SOB) make your living by drinking the blood of the poor you condemned as subhuman.
Now you know the definition of the word vagrancy; ask yourself whose responsibility it is to create job opportunity, and employment for those you look down upon while you continue to drink even the blood of the nations unborn!
All of you scumbags in the government caused that which plagues Dominica.
    It’s your fault stupid!
    Shut up you…

Leadership matters…sadly…its missing. From top to bottom, this administration is ignoring the issues of mental illness, drug addiction, and vagrancy. YOU sir, are the Minister of Health. Friday was Mental Health Awareness Day. On Saturday you come to the community that YOU REPRESENT IN PARLIAMENT and the best thing you can tell them is do their own thing indovidually? Is this really a LABOUR government?? Is this the philosphy of Rosie and Pierro and EO Leblanc before them? I hardly think so, Sir.

Leadership matters. Do you??? Boy, start to build a lwgacy and LEAD so that YOUR community can be better when you leave.

Minister of Health. You are wearing the RIGHT SHOES TO LEAD a solution. Ibo France already gave you the tips. Bye boy.

Mr. Laville, stop all the lamenting and the pretence as this problem of the rising vagrancy is mainly because of the incompetence, mismanagement, corruption and the indifference of the heartless administration in power.

    Homelessness arises from:
    *Economic hardship (unemployment, poverty)
*Lack or Inadequate social safety nets
*Health Issues – mental health problems, substance abuse, addiction

    Possible solutions:
*Establishment of services for mental health and addiction 24/7
*Well resourced rehabilitation centers for substance abusers
*Prioritization of permanent housing for vagrants while finding employment opportunities

This problem of vagrrancy will continue to exacerbate if the status quo remains. Complaints by ministers do not solve problems thoughtful and corrective actions do.

      @Ibo France
He is so shameless and buffoonic. He fails to realize that they ( he and his very corrupt regime), have largely been the cause for all the vagrants, islandwide, not just Mahaut.
      What a shameless fool.

This guy is so shameless. Mister Laville, i thought you were bright, but you have just exposed to the world that you are a dimwit. Your very very corrupt DLP has been in office for 25 years, i am asking you what has it done to address the vagrancy problem, not just in Mahaut, but Dominica in general? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! In fact your DLP has exponentially increased begging, and you all are proud about that. Go kneel down to Satan in an office, and you will leave with $100.00, to hell with job creation. Man the amount of damage you all have done to Dominica is beyond comprehension. From destruction of playing fields, to the destruction of agriculture, closure of scores of business, mass exodus of bright minds, etc. The crisis point cannot be far. You all are seeing all the damage, but GREED is a hell of a powerful glue, keeping you all together.

you help perpetuate the problem of laziness, mendecancy, hopelessness and drug abuse what do you expect. whike billions washed on construction to pay foreigners locals are smoking thier lives away. why dont you buy then shovels take them to Wesley every morning so they can feel a part of what is being built. social security will benifit, they will not have to beg and be poor and most of all they will be away from the environment that encouraged them to such despair. its amazing how you guys want to take credit for some thing but blame these kinds of things on the folks personal choices. well they cannot all run to be Parl rep to suck the resources of the state and collect bribes and gifts, build mansions from sale of citizenship. Sadly the people sleep on the bed thier leaders make for them.

Not even the most hardened Labour zealot can honestly dispute or deny your assertions. Unmitigated truth!

An administrator in power for twenty five consecutive years must take full responsibility for the dire economic state of the country. When a country is bedevilled with social, economical and infrastructural problems CORRUPTION is unmistakably the main factor.

How can we eliminate or greatly reduce these perennial problems of stark poverty, vagrancy, unemployment, etcetera. The best solution is to boot Roosevelt and his boot lickers to the curb forever.
