Levi Peter urges UWP to reconsider election court challenge and take up Skerrit on electoral reform promise

Attorney General Levi Peter. File photo

Attorney General in the last DLP administration, Levi Peter has advised the United Workers Party (UWP) opposition United Workers Party to reexamine its plans to challenge the 2019 general elections in the courts.

Opposition Leader Lennox Linton announced recently that his party plans to file a petition, in the courts, challenging what it believes were voting irregularities during the 2019 General Elections in Dominica.

The Dominica Labour Party (DLP) won the general elections held on December 6, 2019, with an overwhelming majority of 18 seats out of 21 while the UWP secured the remaining 3.

The UWP has taken the position that the elections were not free and fair and has accused the DLP of bribing Dominicans who live in the diaspora, to return to the country to vote.

“What I would humbly suggest is that the opposition forces should be taking up the Prime Minister in the indication that he gave in his address on his swearing-in that he intended to engage with the leader of the opposition towards seeking to secure appropriate electoral reforms and other actions that would be to the benefit of Dominica…” Peter said during an interview on State-Owned Radio DBS. “If that fails then you may be more justified to take alternative measures.”

According to Peter, in the current circumstance where the DLP received such a victory, “to use all sorts of slurs innuendos, accusations and allegations against individuals and organizations, totally unsupported by any credible evidence, is not in the best interest of Dominica…”

He pointed out that the observer missions that were present in Dominica during the elections declared that the election reflects the will of the people, “and yes they have been accused of all sorts of improper actions.”

Peter said that the election results and the reports from the various missions gave Dominicans an opportunity in Dominica to turn a new leaf, “and if we do not change track, in particular, the opposition forces do not change track quite rapidly, it will be sadly an opportunity lost.”

“he Dominica Labour Party (DLP) won the general elections held on December 6, 2019, with an overwhelming majority of 18 seats out of 21 while the UWP secured the remaining 3”
    Correction:
The Dominica Labour Party (DLP) won the general elections held on December 6, 2019, with an overwhelming majority of Bobol and corru0tion and deception where many people have been bought and accommodated and flew in to vote appears funded by the corrupt Labour government. Money was given out like hot bread…and do we know why? Well, the reason is that corrupt labour manipulated the election due to desperation to win because if they had lost the election the Prominent UWP Team would have arranged to have the out going failed PM and corrupted Labour government would be arrested and brought
before the court. It has to be done because Skerrit and his failed labour government must be accounted for this nonsense the Labour government has created. We need decency in government and leadership.

I wonder, will he be a member of the new parliament because I do not see his name of Skerrit’s new appointments. Traditionall and constitutionally the AG is a member of parliament.

Let the fools go to court. The judges will have a good laugh. I can’t wait to hear and see their evidence. Or, maybe the UWP fools forgot that court cases are judged based on the evidence. A pack of jokers! A basket of shame. The laughing stock of Dominica, the Caribbean and the world. They are making Skerrit even more popular. Even the OAS is now laughing at the UWP. Sad.

Is that the same Levi Peter who fought tooth and nail on behalf of Dr. Smell-E-Deek when we needed electoral reform? Who Jah curse no man or dictator can bless or make whole. Time will tell Levi, time will surely tell.

    Levi’s test report.

First function of the Chambers of the Attorney General:
“Timely and accurate drafting of legislations.” – FAIL
(Electoral reform legislation should have been drafted more than 15 years ago)

Part of the mission statement of the Chambers of the Attorney General:
“investigation of financial crimes in an efficient manner” – FAIL
(Missing $1.2B from the budget, and International criminals funding Skerrit’s campaigns in exchange for Dominican Diplomacy and passports are yet to be investigated!)

If you did your job, our political climate would not be in the current predicament.

Peter you are liar in what you wrote above, all of it is to protect someone. This is deception, lying, and all you do is in the name of corrupt Skerrit. Peter, you recall th Bin Bobol, the Fertilizer Bobol, the Red Clinic Bobol. The abuse of sates funds. Where were people like you guys to talk and advocate not on behalf of failed Skerrit and his corrupt labour Government, but on behalf of the Poor people of Dominica. There is still too much poverty in our villages that goes unnoticed, but we hear of sales of passports, endless travels with no obvious returns that goes to our suffering people and families that we know not of. This Labour government has no vision, lacks focus and today have Dominica bad state.

:?: Listening and reading from that slave of the one-man corrupt rogue regime and listening to Felix Gregoire,it leaves one thing in mind, they are guilty and looking for sympathy! It’s like when children are playing and one happen to wrong the other and asking not to report to parents. In my opinion, these rogues deserve a more severe treatment than going to court,a page must be taken from what happened in Bolivia and what’s going on in Haiti!!!

YOu cannot trust a man who continues to break promises. All uwp needs to do is to begin actual work in their communities. Dont interfere with the DLP because they will take all the credit, they will do what they want as shown in the past decades, they will ridicule you and you will get the short end of the stick. ONLY NOW!!!! After the election they want to come and act like reform is important. LEVI peter the crook has no shame. none of these people nor their supporters do. The integrity of the nation is depleted. yet they revel in that

Levi Peters please I am not tuned with what you just wrote, makes no sense to me. Go back to Skerrit where you are stuck in his corrupt nest and lecture to this immature boy Skerrit of yours of what it is to manage and run a country that is so poor like Dominica over 20yrs now and neither Skerrit nor his incompetent Labour ministers and yourself have any substance and vision as to how best to tell Skerrit the decent way forward to manage an ailing island that he, failed, immature Skerrit has created with the help of you and other failed boom boom flies. Levi please tell us where the development has taken place apart from illiterate talk of Skerrit. Red Clinic is an insult. It`s a bobol, corruption and abusive scheme upon our struggling people. Skerrit failed, he must Go.

Oh yes, you would like that Mr. Useless AG. You know as well as all of us that once the case goes higher up the higher the chances are that the UWP will win. So, keep your bias opinion and advice to yourself and stay in your dark hole!

  13. December 16, 2019

Sir, if Lennox was a smart person, he would take your advice and not go to the courts to make a fool of himself.

But he has a mentor in that Randy fellow that is leading him in all the wrong directions, along with all the other enemies of the Prime Minister.

If after such a long time these guys have not realized that they are heading the wrong way, to try to make a U-turn onto the right path, they should know that they are not hurting anyone; the people of Dominica are comfortable with their Leader and that is what matters

Our number of days in the body is too short, to waste it on strife, vile, discord and disdain, instead of making peace with God before we vanish from this groaning tent of ours.

Polo wrote this BS: Linton is the problem, they cannot win with him at the helm. Dominicans can see through Polo`s nonsense talk and his highly corrupted Labour Government. Polo you sit with a bunch of Labour members who have made up the Labour Party, but excessively corrupted and lack decorum to honour and have respect for we the people of Dominica. Polo, your failed immature Skerrit appears to be the boss of this Bobol, thievery that supposedly lost due to nefarious means and use the states finances to hire planes, bring down people to vote rather they come-on their own will. Therefore Mr Failed corrupted Skerrit, they came because you have no trust and loyalty to the people who reside in Dominica to vote. What you and your fake members did was like a thief in the night, brought people overnight to vote and they are dispatched next day back to their comforts, while our people continue to suffer under failed Skerrit who has managed Fertlizer & Red Clinic Bobols etc. Skerrit Goes.

a few years back labourites say Edison was the problem, the Earl became leader then they said they should have given it to Timothy Earl not a good leader. A few months after Earl got tangled in some nonesense and Ron Green became the leader then all of a sudden the should get someone else to be leader. the prime minister himself challenged Lennox to come in the arena now Lennox not a good leader.

    Levi shut the hell up!
Why didn’t speak up when the country was calling for electoral reform and identification cards.
Instead Skerrit brought in RSS to support to rig the election and intimidate and brutalize those constituencies that rejected him at the polls.
    Damn hypocrite!

I must question the A.G.’s credentials. According to the Bar Council in London, Levi Andrew Peter was called to the Bar at Lincoln’s Inn, London in Nov. 1993. He was subsequently registered as a self-employed barrister at 4, Brick Court Chambers, Temple, London from 1 Jan.1997 to 30 June, 2006. He was unregistered as per 1 July, 2006, holding no practice certificate and not allowed to practice. I do not know what happened but something must have compelled him to quit the U.K., return to his land of birth and try his luck here. I just hope the gentleman does not have any skeletons in his closet that can be used by his paymaster to do his bidding.

What have you done in London why you were dismissed? Now you are with a fake PM in Dominica causing rouble and talking BS. Now we know.

Levi, go clean up your backyard first before you attempt to talk political nonsense for and on behalf of Skerrit. The UWP is a very open and decent political party with trusted well educated lawyers in that formidable Team.

    This is wishful thinking!

When EVIL resonates across the fabric of a society and perpetuates itself through self-subversion it frays and thrashes itself toward disassemblage.

When a puppet of an Attorney General in Levi Peter uses EVIL by bringing his paralytic tongue, the dialect of impossible belief, the word-in-arrest festers upon a nation – it draws forward the unspeakable, for the verses of evil, whether poetic of profane, base or enchanted, reflect the deathliness of language itself, and thus the living death of a nation.

    Wait nah, so in other words, …… aye hear de rank undertones of madness coming from mister dem;

    – Someone can commit a criminal trespass or do wrong against another person/system……..

    – …… after the crime/wrong has been done, the victim(s) of the crime should then go to the unrepentant offender of the crime to discuss with that offender how best he/she can avoid committing the crime again DESPITE that offender having been previously warned on numerous occasions to avoid committing the said crime.

    8-O 8-O 8-O 8-O 8-O 8-O 8-O 8-O 8-O 8-O

So where is the justice for the victim(s) of the crime/wrong and the punishment of the unrepentant offender for the crime?

That’s all these guys good for – talking copious amounts of vacuous foolishness and absurdities.

    December 16, 2019

You were not prepared to talk amidst all the calls for reform. Further did not recognize the same call by the OAS.
Your way out was that there was nothing wrong with the system since all parties have contested and won without reform.
Now you are seeking to talk on your own terms, time and will?
    That is disrespectful and underhand.

    • December 17, 2019

So what? We all have the right to speak at our own time and will.

He advised Lennox to take heed of the PM’s offer rather than go to the court to make himself a fool.

Lennox’s electoral reform talks had no base; he wanted his own conditions. What sound-minded person would want to participate in those senseless talks, especially a man like Levi Peters?

He is the one always talking at his own time and will. Did he not think that PM Skerrit would bow down to his demand and wait for electoral reform before he called the election?

But in the end, he had no choice but to stand with Prime Minister’s decision, claiming not to give him the win on a platter. What is an 18-3 victory, if not a “silver platter”?

How foolish can Lennox be to think PM Skerrit will be his puppet, what he has been aiming from the start?

Dominicans are led by God’s Will, not by Lennox’s will, not yours, and the rest of your gang; take it or leave it!

I am not one of the legal profession but from what I can see, there is no legal action that can be taken. The election was legal but ‘stolen’. I would ask that the UWP take a different action and hold the current Government accountable starting with electoral reform in the first 100 days of 2020.

    • December 17, 2019

Well, they did that for all of 5 years from 2014 – 2019, right down to the last 3 days before the election.

Their first protest was to the electoral office just days after the 2014 election, the same complaint was that the election was not free and fair; stolen as you claim.

And yet their quest failed worse than in 2014; from 15-6 to 18-3 in 2019. So how is it going to work in 100 days, with lesser power than they had for those 5 years?

What kind of power do they have in Parliament, with “three foolish” people, of which one is not human?
