Ms. Octave has a history of such invitations; she headlined the opening night of the Bequia Music Festival in January 2023 and performed in Geneva, Switzerland, on June 27, 2024, after being commissioned to create a song for the International Trade Center’s 60th Anniversary. Recently, she performed with the Total Praise Mass Choir at the Caribbean Gospel Fest in Guadeloupe on September 21, 2024, and was written up in a national newspaper for her vocal abilities.
“Play on Venus (Live)” encompasses a variety of themes, including love, heartbreak, empowerment, and resilience. The album’s relatable lyrics and engaging melodies are expected to resonate with a wide audience.
In a recent interview, Ms. Octave described “Play on Venus” as her interpretation of the female experience in daily life. She referenced the saying that men are from Mars and women are from Venus, explaining that her album invites listeners on a soulful journey through her lyrical expressions. Describing her distinctive style as ‘Caribbean Neo Soul’, the album’s songs address various aspects of love, personal struggles, and the complexities of emotions, aiming to connect with listeners regardless of gender.
Ahead of the album’s release, Ms. Octave will perform selected tracks from “Play on Venus (Live)” at the Flavours of the World Festival 2024 on September 29, 2024, with her band. This performance will contribute to the renovation of the Roseau Cathedral Building, a significant historical and tourism site in Dominica.
After the album launch, Ms. Octave will travel to Algiers, Algeria, where she has been invited to perform at the CANEX WKND from October 16-19, 2024. This opportunity, extended by the African Export-Import Bank through the Creative African Nexus, reinforces her role as a musical ambassador for the Caribbean and highlights her expanding international presence.
