Lincoln Corbette, Joeffrey James head into 2026 as newly appointed police chief and deputy

The Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force (CDPF) has extended heartfelt congratulations to Chief of Police Lincoln Corbette and Deputy Chief of Police Joeffrey James on their appointments to their respective ranks.

Wrapping up 2025 with the news, the CDFP Facebook page, stated “this milestone reflects their unwavering dedication, exemplary leadership, and long-standing commitment to the safety, security, and well-being of the people of the Commonwealth of Dominica.”

“ We wish them continued strength, wisdom, and success as they lead the Force forward with integrity and professionalism,” the statement said.

In April 2025, National Security Minister Rayburn Blackmoore had explained in a media statement that with the retirement of Acting Commissioner Davidson Valerie, the position of Acting Police Commissioner had once again become vacant, prompting Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerit to advise the President, Sylvanie Burton, on two new appointments.

Effective April 1, 2025 Blackmoore announced Lincoln Corbette as Acting Police Commissioner and Jeoffrey James as Acting Deputy Commissioner to the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force (CDPF).

This decision, according to Blackmoore, was part of a broader effort to address public grievances in a systematic and transparent manner within the police system.

Originally, Corbette was supposed to fill the position for six months, until September 30, 2025. Additionally, Mr. Jeoffrey James was appointed to serve as the Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police for the same term–though the recent update will see both tenures extended.

The permanent post of Police Commissioner was vacant since Daniel Carbon’s departure in 2023.

The CDPF needs a serious ‘shake-up’. Serious crimes are on the increase; the streets are awash with illegal guns and ammunition; illicit drugs are as easy to procure like bread from a bakery; many murders and crimes are unsolved; the morale of the Force is at its lowest ebb. Yet, the same officers at the top of the CDPF during this appalling , low productivity period have being handsomely rewarded. This administration rewards mediocrity.

You cannot bake a delicious cake with rotten eggs and flour with weevils.

I might be wrong but isn’t the police commissioner that person that said a vagrant took his gun shot himself in the behind and gave him back the gun? lol
If it’s the same officer how is he leading a police force of a country plagued with gun violence. You have a murder every other day with no suspect or arrect.
