LIVE from 3pm on DNO: Independence Opening Parade 2025 in Roseau (with a difference)

 

With the official Independence opening ceremony haven taken place yesterday (on 27th September 2025) the Independence Opening parade is set to take place in Roseau from 3pm.

Chief cultural officer Earlson Matthew has highlighted key differences and improvements that are expected today compared with previous years.

Among other changes he has indicated that the Cadet Corps will be a part of the parade re-introducing elements of the marching band that was once a big part of the parade.

Matthew has also expressed that local dance will be a bigger part of the display this afternoon with bèlè and European round dances and double the number of live amplified bands on the road from last year.

He also encourage everyone to turn up in madras to support and participate in the festivities.

The following are some of the cultural groups and performers that are expected to be part of the parade:

Paix Bouche Drummers
Petite Savanne Jing Ping Band
Paix Bouche Cultural Group
Patriotic Dancers
Afrikulture Stilt Walkers
Bachannal Ladies

Sakis Lapo Kabwit
