175th anniversary? People, question things. Ask yourselves what was this church doing 175 years ago.
It was preoccupied worth your enslavement.
You people were held in bondage 175 years ago, not even allowed to read and write, they made it illegal. The church and it’s vicas were the top of the slave chain. You, yes you, must go to the church for jesus indoctrination just for your generations to learn today that it was all fake, your choice bible or swords. Yes, that church that even has calypsonians pontificating half-euro white man nonsense from their deliberately contaminated bible.
I understand your point. Do you recommend going back to Obeah-Vodou practices? That was the fight of Cécile Fatiman or Mathilda Beauvoir in Haiti, where Vodou was the official religion many yars in the 19th Century. But it has also elements of Catholicism, such us the cult to the Saints.
Slavery was not exclusively of Christianism, Judaism and Islam were also involved in the black slave trade historically and we are forgetting the wars between our African peoples as those on the coast made expeditions to capture those from the interior to sell them to the whites
The message of Christ is universal, but the Church is only a foretaste, incoaction, germ of the Kingdom of God. For now, this world is under the power of Satan, until the 2nd coming of Our Lord in Glory and Majesty. The Church is composed of human elements, and although it has divine inspiration, its human components are not free from error. Preparing the Kingdom of God is the mission of the Church.

After burning and shutting down all your education and religious institutions, they replaced them with christian missionaries in little churches (you had enormous temples before religion) for over 400 years. They wrote your text books. They drilled unworthyness and selling yourselves to whites into your heads repeatedly. Taught you that your Spirituality and relationship with God is a bad thing they renamed voodoo, obeah, hoodoo etc when YOU are a God.
What they practice in Haiti is far superior to what Europeans have you mimicking. You, gave them the concept of God!
By military operations they stole and enslaved you, your land, and left you poor with a contaminated bible of some of your people’s own words.

@Caribbean cath, with so much info that has “come out” you have to move on from that basic level of just a little catholic follower. Even priests move on within the cult to take extreme oaths and become Jesuits, Knights of Columbus, knight of the kuklux klan, Opus Dei etc. Seems you are only an acolyte right where they prepared for you, I wouldn’t remain there.
