Not all resident citizens in Dominica have a passport or drivers licence so a voter ID for all makes sense. If implemented, the Voter ID should be FREE!

If the government needs to stop chartering and paying for diasporas flights to Dominica and use this to cover the cost to issue voter ID cards.

Governments should NOT be paying the cost of flights for the diaspora to come and vote.

If diasporas want to vote, they should pay for the airline ticket out of their own pocket. Let’s see how many would bother to make the trip!

They do not do this in the UK. What the UK does is organise transport for UK residents (mainly elderly) to their nearest polling station where they live.

Agreed. Just a slight correction. It’s the DLP that is paying for those tickets.

I find it very interesting that those in the diaspora who come to vote, in flaming red at that, and who love Dominica SO MUCH, will not come at their own expense.

DLP operatives must find them in all coo boose and bring theme down. And Lord knows the lies they tell to get here. My mom taught well the “freeness is worriness” Soon who cannot hear will feel – some will lose their “daily bread”

Debbie Douglas told the world that her father Rosie Douglas intended to divide the Dominican people
(1)A group of Dominican people living in Dominica charged with the responsibility of electing a government.
(2)A group of Dominicans living in the diaspora, the so called intellects, who would advise and control government
It is well known, that Rosie said,Dominican intellects in the diaspora would play a MAJOR role in the DEVELOPMENT of Dominica.Gabriel Christian,Clayton Shillingford,Thompson Fontaine,Irvin Andre,Dale Dangleben and Emanuel Finn are some of those who wanted to controll the government from the diaspora.Skerrit would have none of it.

Hot debate. What do you think? Thumb up 3 Thumb down 9

A destroyer does not fix things, he destroys. Roosevelt is well known for his destructive propensity.

Before his ascent to the apex of government, Dominica had three social classes – the rich, the middle class, the poor. Three classes remain today but there is a difference. Today we have the super rich, the poor and the ultra poor.

Why should anyone expect an ultra incompetent, ultra corrupt, ultra amoral despotic miscreant to be an advocate for a fair and just electoral system?

Well-loved. Like or Dislike: Thumb up 10 Thumb down 4

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference, living one day at a time; enjoying one moment at a time; taking this world as it is and not as I would have it; trusting that You will make all things right if I surrender.
