The Ĺ Ètoile du Matin Pre’schooliar (The Morning Star Preschool) continues to recognize the importance of practical teaching techniques of the daily routine of students enrolled in that institution.
Every month the school focuses on a new theme.
This month the focus is on ‘Recycling’.
“Every parent came on board to collect items that can be recycled, together with their children they collect as much as they could,” Founder and Principal of the Ĺ Ètoile du Matin Pre’schooliar, Georgette Deravariere said.
She also pointed out the importance of recycling.
“Recycling is very important in our day to day life,” she noted. “When we recycle we save not just the environment but we save life.”
Deravariere continued, “Life of creatures great and small, Life of Humans ,Life for the future, Life that we all can live in a non-toxic non polluted world. Let us all make use of all resources.”
She added, “Recycling in fact can save Lives.”
Furthermore, Deravariere indicated that together with the Solid Waste team Recycling Waste Officer, Miss Shamara Daisy and Public Relations Officer, Rhoda St. John also took the time to bring joy to the children in a fun but educated experience.
“The Recycling truck came, where the children got to see all the different recycled materials enter into the truck sorted out in different garbage bags, plastic bottles were in one bag , paper in one bag and the list goes on,” she explained. “The children’s eyes [lit] up when they saw the garbage collector which they called Mr. Recycle man. This brought laughter to us all.”
Meantime, she said the school also took the initiative to join with the business places in the community encouraging them to take part in collecting recycling items.
These Businesses include: Dr. Damien Dublin (Dental LAB), Bethelmie’s Carpet Supply, Malcolm Stephen & Sons LTD. , CA$HWIZ Dominica ,The Insurance Company of the West Indies Limited, Jan Jan’s Variety and Rose on the Highway.
Deravariere thanked everyone who came onboard to support this initiative.
The Mission Statement of the institutions is: “Development of personal literacy in a nurturing learning environment supported by a positive culture of cooperation among educators, families and community.”
