Mahaut Village Carnival is slated for Saturday, February 22, and organizers promise an explosion of music, culture, and celebration.
“On Saturday February 22, 2025 Mahaut will come alive with the vibrant energy of our people, pulsating music, and a mouth-watering cuisine,” one of the organizers of the event Primrose David stated during a weekly Carnival Press Conference held on Thursday.
“This is more than just a celebration, it is a reflection of our rich history, culture, and unity.”
She revealed that the parade will start at ‘The Lab’, make its way through the village, and end at Zaman Park.
According to her, the public should look forward to a spectacular lineup featuring Mahaut Sensay, Mahaut Bouyon and Sakis Lapo Kabwit, Afrikulture Stilt Walkers, New Generation Children’s Band, JCI Kiddies Carnival, NBD Flag Wavers, princess contestants from Massacre Canefield Primary School, the National Queen Pageant contestants, among others.
Part of the main highlights will include the infectious rhythms of two of Dominica’s most recognizable and dynamic bands, the Triple Kay Band and Signal Band, along with DJ Rio.
Meanwhile, David noted that to ensure free flow of traffic, starting from 1:30 PM motorists traveling from the south will be redirected through the Mahaut Credit Union Route with access to Campbell Road, and exit via Belfast Estate.
“So, if you are coming from the north it will be the opposite, access through Belfast Estate Campbell Road and exit via the Mahaut Credit Union route,” she explained.
Motorists, and pedestrians, are being encouraged to follow the designated routes and traffic signs, “to ensure safety and efficiency for all of us.”
She invites the general public to turn out in large numbers from 3:00 PM and be a part of this very special event.
