A manicou is said to be the cause of a complete power outage in the entire north of the island today.
This was according to an announcement from Dominica Electricity Services (DOMLEC) via their Facebook page.
βThis interruption was triggered by wildlife (manicou) which resulted in fault at our hydro plant,β the post said.
The areas affected include Bourne, Dos DβAne, Belmanier, Paix Bouche, Moore Park, Providence, Blenheim, Thibaud, Gommier, Vieille Case, Penville, Lahaut, Delaforde, Bense, Anse Soldat, Anse De Mai, Hampstead, Savanne Paille, Wind Blow, Calibishie, Calibishie Ridge, Balizier (Vieille Case), Pointe Baptiste Dubuc.
Communities from Indian River to Picard-George Town, Long House, Glanvillia, Balvin, American Canadian School of Medicine University, Lizard Trail, Banana Trail, Coconut Beach, Picard, and Ti Bay were also affected.
The post further stated that a crew from DOMLEC is currently working diligently to resolve and restore power to these areas.
DOMLEC has expressed apologies to customers in these affected areas for the sudden interruption and for any inconvenience caused as a result.

A manicou in the north canβt shut down power in the south or vice versa I see Manicou on the lines almost nightly and they donβt eat high voltage lines plus all the lines have circuit breakers as protection. Domlec should concoct a better story because the fools in Dominica are advancing in knowledge. You can only fool some people sometimes.
