The next phase of achievement unfolds for eight students as the Marigot Development Corporation (MDC) US Study Program – Boarding School Section marks a significant milestone by sending them abroad to pursue educational opportunities in the United States.
The Corporation shared via press release that this year’s all-female cohort—comprising Makayla Constance, Micah Clunes, Danielle Fergus, Nia Williams, Kayla-Maria Astaphan, K’Asia-Shanice Ferreira-Barnes, Lizanne Cuffy, and Shaynne Thomas—symbolizes determination, aspiration, and potential. Collectively, they have secured scholarships totaling approximately US$1.2 million.
Among the group are seven students from Dominica, and one from St. Kitts, who will commence their studies at esteemed American boarding schools such as Westover School in Connecticut, Oregon Episcopal School in Oregon, Fountain Valley School in Colorado, and Oldfields School in Maryland.
Over the next two to four years, these talented young women will focus on academic preparation for admission to U.S. universities while also gaining experiences that will foster their development into global leaders.
“Their achievement is a testament to the power of opportunity, the value of hard work, and the importance of parents investing in the children’s futures,” states the release.
The MDC US Study Program also commended the students’ success and extended best wishes as they embark on this transformative journey toward creating brighter paths for themselves and their families.
