As at Antrim, this is another example of a catastrophe triggered by flawed civil engineering practice.

All my alerts to those responsible have gone unheeded.

@Roger Burnett, what were your recommendations to the authorities?

My findings and recommendations are contained in an 11 page report that I submitted to government three years ago. This was followed by a report a year ago that contained updates and further recommendations. The reports have not been acknowledged or responded to.

When land movement began 16 years ago my wife made daily assessments of for the Office of Disaster Management. We also held meetings at our property to keep residents updated.

When I first heard that the government of Dominica had received over a hundred million dollars to renovate the Loubiere to Grand Bay road I said to myself that these funds should be used to build a new road; a road from Grand Bay via Macaton through Vielle Bwa to Belleview Chopin then turn right in the direction of the Winstons to above Mas Edward to Loubiere. The government of Dominica in conjunction with the Grand Bay village council and the parliamentary representative should have done some research and feasible studies which would have culminated in the construction of a new road. The existing Grand Bay road is prone to landslides and l must inform the public that this landslide may just be the first. In my opinion, any sane person should know that renovating that road is a challenge compounded by cliffs and mountains with soft soil on one side and valleys and precipice on the other. I sincerely hope that the project is done and completed in a safe and timely manner.

@Expat did you also do a cost analysis to establish how much this new route will cost?

Never a dull day in Dominica. It’s always some sort of adversity – vehicular accidents, shootings and homicides, environmental pollution and destruction, and I could continue ad infinitum.

For all the sins that are being committed by the Roosevelt led kleptocracy, has Dominica fallen out of favour with Creator?

God is just but we cannot expect Him to hold His wrath forever on the wrongs of our ‘leaders’. Have we begun to experience it?

What God would use his wrath against impoverished people? Whenever disasters hit Dominica it is always the poor that suffers most. Ibo France please leave the Almighty God out of your evil political nonsense.

I am no biblical scholar. However, I attended church for many years in the formative phase of my life. Throughout the bible, there are numerous references when God punished the wicked with flood, brimstone and fire, etcetera.

Look at what these infidels in government are doing to God’s sacred environment! Don’t you think He is livid?

@Ibo France, yes God is livid at people like you who attach bad deeds to his name. Over the period of its existence Dominica has experienced numerous natural disasters many of them occurred before these infidels as you call them, were in office, some were not yet even born, as usual you just belching rubbish. So Dominica has been ruled by infidels for its entire existence!?

Point you are spot on this is how selfish and malicious people think, the contents of their hearts sometimes spill over. No genuine caring or concern for others as long their way or their point of view is supreme.

It is not a red vs blue thing or even black vs white these selfish evil personalities will keep making us pay for their failings as long as we let them. Open your eyes the Trumps, the Skerrits all the hypocritical EGOS of the world need to be held to account including our own egos too. That is the real message of christ, the golden rule, do unto others ( especially the good) that you would have them do onto you.

a geologists day is made. see the layering of the soil and what that could say about the entire area. I am no geologist but basic geology – when I look at the Hilton site in Salisbury from the ocean like it is on a fold. the souls crushing or folding from the sea at shore level.

    check the clearly demarcated layering?

Laugh alone I can laugh at that comment
U seeing all the soil there is one complete layer u there talking about layering . All the soil there is of the same type . Only difference is that some is topsoil that is stained by decomposed vegetative matter . That has been spread down the slope because of the slide
And ther is NO fold in the strata’s in Salisbury. It’s just layered sandstone formed by years and years of run off from the mountains in the past before the area was uplifted by volcanic activity . It’s found EVERYWHERE along the west coast and is most prevalent under the cane field cliff where there is actual coral formations making up the morne Daniel hilll
And this explanation is coming from an actual geologist
20 years British military Dominican born geologist speaking
