A man who is said to be mentally challenged was shot by a police officer in the town of Portsmouth today.
According to police reports, the man was armed with a cutlass and attacked a police officer.
Police say the victim was shot in the leg in self-defense.
Reports further stated that after being shot in one leg he continued to advance on the police with the cutlass, “and even when he was shot in the other leg he didn’t stop and continued to resist the police.”
The man was then subdued and transported to the hospital for medical attention.
Great work, Officers!
I wonder who concluded that the man is mentally challenged…. Let’s get the other half of the story.
how many miles did the man have to charge to be shot in both legs. a cutlass you have gun police. how many of you responded to him. shooting him twice and then subduing him then even as the article claim that he continued after being shot twice and then subdued. was it necessary to shoot him first and even a second time with no effect . I believe shooting the man is overboard based on what I read.
Isn’t there a better way to deal with mentally challenged persons ? anyway when you push a people and they can’t take anymore they will retaliate .
you should go and tackle a crazy man wielding a cutlass and show me a better way of dealing with him
i myself would have shot center mass
the police shot the man in the leg and he was still trying to attack so he was then shot in the other leg and he was still trying to attack them after that so tell me how you ” big boss” going to deal with him in a better way
and ill come to ur funeral and lay a couple flowers for you
I commend the CDPD for NOT ending that individual’s life. I live in NYC. His family would be planning his funeral. There should be trained personal to deal with mentally challenged individuals.
