Founder and Coordinator of MiRiDom Daryl Phillip says Dominica is now a freer space, in terms of sexual expression. He made this remark on Monday at a press conference, after a court ruling in favor of MiRiDom. The ruling from the High Court states that sections 14 & 16 of the Sexual Offences Act which punishes homosexual sex, is unconstitutional.
Phillip mentioned that some individuals in society are privileged and can express themselves as they want to.
However, according to him, the court judgment brings greater equality and freedom to the country in this regard.
Phillip further stated, “Whether we like it or not homosexuality or same-sex attraction exists, and there is nothing we can do about it.”
He believes, that moving forward, the largest fight is removing phobia and creating acceptance of sexual differences.
He said MiRiDom is an interesting group. ” We have few members, but a lot of allies. One of the reasons is people are afraid to come forward.”
Daryl encourages people to be fair to each other and stop discriminating against people who love the same sex and try to accommodate them within society.
“We do not expect everything to change overnight, but with this ruling no longer can someone say it is against the law, so I have a right to call you names. This removes that fuel and will have no justification.”
Phillip feels that this ruling will force people to think of their actions towards others.
“It is the beginning of a process and we need to continue the process. So it is now up to us the Dominican society and citizens of the world to decide you cannot continue treating people that way because they do something different than you,” Phillip added.
Meanwhile, a statement from MiRiDom said, “The era where bullying and taunting could be justified under the guise of the law is over. To the LGBTQ community, this victory is both a celebration and a call to action. However, it is crucial to remember that this legal victory does not condone or excuse illegal behaviors such as pedophilia, rape, or gross indecent exposure, which remain punishable under law. Our commitment is to upholding dignity and consent remains unwavering.”

“…and there is nothing we can do about it.” – there is a A LOT we can do about it – reverting that stupid court ruling for one. We can completely remove all possible influence that could cause people to turn out this way including media (pornography, western degenerate media that pushes LGBT etc) and by proactively finding and removing the abusers BEFORE they can get to children who end up becoming messed up themselves from childhood trauma and then going on to promote the same degenerate lifestyle that caused them that trauma.
We can INCREASE penalties for this type of behavior. I personally would be for the death penatly for ANYBODY who sexually harms a child including men who abuse young girls but especially for men who abuse young boys.
And in no way is this going to stop “bullying and taunting” – if anything it’s going to make it worse since now some will believe that this is some kind of popular mandate but once they come out they will quickly realize how unpopular…

What I don’t understand is the absence of Captain of Air Dominica in all of these legal battles.
First, the radiator of Air Dominica was running hot when the alleged murderer/ passport dealer allegedly murdered two Canadians and captain was out of state. Ok maybe the captain didn’t know these murders would take place.
Then the engine of air Dominica developed engine problem and wanted bail to go abroad to check on his engine part. This time the captain arranged to be out of Dominica while the court battle was about to begin.
This time the LGBT took the government of Air Dominica to court in a matter that the captain of air Dominica could just strike down with the stroke of a pen. But again the Captain is not there.
