Miss Dominica Queen Show Committee resigns

2020 contestants: (from left)- Melanie Charles, Kimra Charles, Primrose Angel David, Elnarrah Emmanuel, Kadisha Joseph, Savahnn James and Shannon Connor St Hilaire

Dominica News Online (DNO) has been informed that the entire Carnival Queen Show Committee has resigned.

DNO can confirm that the Committee, through its chairperson Romaulda Hyacinth, submitted a letter of resignation to the Dominica Festivals Committee (DFC) on Monday.

Some of the contestants, we are told, complained of a conflict of interest within the Committee, with reference made to one particular contestant, who they claimed, was close to a member of the Committee.

DNO contacted Hyacinth who told us that she did not wish to comment on the matter.

The abrupt resignation of the Queen Show Committee just two months before the scheduled staging of 2020 National Queen Show in February next year, has cast a shadow over the event which has been struggling to attract sponsorship for the contestants.

So far only one contestant, Shannon Connor St Hilaire of Soufriere, has received full sponsorship from Jungle Bay Resort and Spa.

The Miss Dominica Pageant is scheduled to be held on February 20, 2020, on the forecourt of the Windsor Park Sports Stadium.

I am happy that happened! Everything have to crumble in this country and the fact is this show was being run by people who support the DLP and look at their response to one minor problem, an entire team resigning. LoL, Dominica is not a real place! These next five years will do down in the history books and all the other islands will continue to look at us and laugh while they enjoy true development in their respective islands.

Shame on people like you who make such comments always putting Dominica in a bad light. Dominica is strong. It has survived Marian and the likes it will survive this one too.

First of all we are all wondering why there is a resignation. There is conflict of interest this year in this competition. It starts from the head which is DDA, where the boss has his favorite, then the DfC and it boils down and down, which will include, the board of directors and members who also have their contestant. I fill the committee did the right Thing to recuse themselves, and I am asking also that the members they know themselves, should refrain for interfering, because if this particular contestant wins then it will be the same issue, without this committee. Mr Piper be aware

When a box has worms, they will not only stay in one place and affect the things that they started on. I hope we clean this mess up before Dominica is eaten up by all the worms.

By the way, doesn’t a Speaker of the House need to be elected?? According to the constitution #36 that’s how it’s supposed to work. But…we know who run tings…

I honestly think the DFC needs to be Honest.

Please answer why staff of the DFC for years are on many queen show teams to the point where they take on Mapwi on facebook and whatsapp?

Why are there members of DFC and cliques seeking to embarrass the current miss Dominica, because they were in support of the 2019 runner up?

If a whole committee resign, it is obvious that matter is beyond the chair and her family, and using the chair and her family is a means of scapegoat by the DFC.

This country needs to stop shielding these pageant bullies that find themselves in every pageant, leeching to a contestant to try and make them win….from T-Matador to National Queen Show, These bullies seek to influence judges, undermine committees and create conflicts. Case point, the Miss OECS show recently held, why did some of these bullies support a next country against Dominica?

The show has not yet begun. Let the girls perform and let them be judged. DFC have a lot of negativity going on. Lord take control of our Nature Isle. It is in caos.
There is a reason behind this of course.
    Get fresh ideas?

well if thats the case they resigned as they should have done . cause DCA is always a place where is who u know that making u go anywhere. it seems to come down to a hiring or picking the person you know best over the person who is best

and so far the country has been suffering for that and will continue to suffer

    IT HAS ONLY JUST BEGUN

An entire committee resigned because of what? Mrs. Hyacinth needs to be honest with herself and her family and she also needs to realize that neither herself or her family is bigger than the event. Whilst the event committee was placed under her care, the event belongs to the GoCOD(Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica)…

Now you have publicly opened a can of worm, please inform the public the real reason for your resignation…..

After such , i will provide the real reason behind the committee resignation…
