Montserrat reports first case of coronavirus

Montserrat has confirmed its first case of coronavirus/COVID -19.

The Minister of Health, Charles Kirnon made the announcement during a news conference held by officials of the island’s Ministry of Health.

Kirnon said three suspected cases were sent abroad for testing and one was returned positive. That individual is now under quarantine.

Health officials said other persons are currently in quarantine, though they did not reveal the exact number.

Kirnon also stated that his ministry is receiving assistance from the UK in dealing with the COVID-19 contagion.

The message from Montserrat’s Ministry of Health to the general public now that COVID-19 has been confirmed on Montserrat is to stay vigilant; practice social distancing — at least two meters if persons exhibit signs of cold, cough, flu. Practice good hygiene, and to stay away from public gatherings.

A flu clinic is to be opened from tomorrow on the island, stated Ministry officials.

Well, well, well… the virus has been reported from all over the Caribbean. Dominica, nothing. Well nothing reported anyway which doesn’t really mean much considering what a lying government we have. Skerrit has not be seen in DA for days! DNO is delaying to publish the comments for days now… but as people always say, we are not areal country!

It’s really amazing how some people can’t see past politics. It’s like some of you people are actually waiting to hear the virus is in Dominica to blame Skerrit as usual. Stop with the politicking and thank the good Lord that it has not reached our shores. There are still some countries in the Caribbean besides Dominica where there are no cases of the virus.

Babbcock88 it looks like you are on your knees praying for Dominica to have a case of COVID-19 just so you can explode on the government, but stay a little longer on your knees and pray that you will not be a victim of what you seem to be wishing for. i say this because i am reading your first 2 sentences “Well, well, well… the virus has been reported from all over the Caribbean. Dominica, nothing” and then you go on a rant about how the government is lying and even blaming DNO for delaying publishing comments. WHAT A SICK INDIVIDUAL YOU ARE.
