Janelle McDowell, a mother from the community of Fond Saint Jean, is desperately searching for her missing 13-year-old son, Jahshawne Alfred. The teenager has been missing for nearly a week, leaving his mother deeply concerned and anxious for his well-being.
Speaking to Dominica News Online (DNO), the distressed parent shared that her son was last seen on Wednesday, January 24, 2024. After leaving school, he went to his grandmother’s home in Pottersville, dropped off his school bag, and mentioned that he was going to grab something to eat. Unfortunately, he has not returned since that moment.
McDowell also disclosed that teachers at the Dominica Grammar School (DGS), where her son is a student, have also reported his absence from school. While acknowledging that this isn’t Jahshawne’s first time going missing, McDowell expresses heightened fears for his safety on this occasion and is appealing to the public for assistance, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.
Since this time, she has taken immediate action by reporting her son’s disappearance to the police. McDowell notes that law enforcement is actively engaged in the ongoing investigation, working to piece together the details surrounding Jahshawne’s whereabouts.
Addressing anyone who may be harboring the teenager, the worried parent emphasized the seriousness of this offense, imploring them to allow Jahshawne to return home immediately.
has he been found?
Too much distressing news. Is Dominica now the new Bermuda triangle? People are disappearing like vapour.
I hope the entire Dominica community will make a valiant effort to find Jahshawne so he can rejoin his family. I want to encourage anyone who knows the whereabouts of this juvenile should report it to law enforcement with dispatch.
When was the matter reported to the police? A 13 years old is a minor, the report should have have been immediate, (the same day). Minors are supposed to be under the supervision of parents or responsible adults. In Dominica we have just too many minors roaming the streets at all hours of the day and night. While i am not ascribing blame on anyone here, i look forward to the day when a responsible government will see this as something that needs attention, and will act upon it. Hoping that whoever has the minor at his/her place will be dealt with accordingly as well.
You blame the government for parents neglecting their kids, refusing to take up their responsibility, failing and abandoning their kids?! This is insanely ridiculous. Really foolish thinking! This one takes the cake.
