Mother believes her missing 14-year-old girl has been abducted; fears for daughter’s safety

Kerdisha Laronde

Catherine Seraphin, the mother of 14-year old Kirdisha Laronde who has been missing for nearly two weeks, fears that her daughter may have been abducted, and might be in danger.

The worried parent who spoke to Dominica News Online (DNO) said her daughter was last seen on Wednesday 30th June, 2021 and since then, neither friends nor family members have heard from her.

“She slept at a friend’s home that night because she was braiding her hair. She called from her friend’s phone on Thursday to inform me that she was going to get something to eat on the boulevard and would be home shortly; that’s the last I heard from her,” Seraphine stated.

According to the mother of the Wesley High School student, when she noticed that Kirdisha did not return home as promised that evening, she assumed that her daughter had gone back to her friend’s home.

The following day, Friday -July 02- after contacting the friend and being informed that she had not seen the teen since she dropped her off at the boulevard, Seraphine proceeded to file a report to the police.

She revealed that for almost two weeks now she has been receiving daily text messages from an unidentified person who simply says that her daughter will be home soon.

“She doesn’t have a cell phone so I am not able to call her directly,  but I certainly do believe that she is in danger. Myself and her teacher have called the number and a man has picked up but he refuses to allow us to speak to her,” she stated.

The Stockfarm resident also confirmed to DNO that she has since given the police the telephone number, in hopes that it will assist with the investigation.

She’s appealing to her daughter’s alleged abductor to allow the teen to return home.

“I am very concerned and I want her to come back home because I have a feeling that she is in trouble,” an apparently worried Seraphin stated. “Please  just let her come back to us.”

Her message to the daughter is if there’s a possibility that she may be reading this article, to try her best to get in contact with family members or the police.

Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of the Stockfarm resident who was last seen wearing a green T-shirt with black jeans is asked to call 911 or the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at telephone numbers 266- 5164/5165/51575119 or crime stoppers at 1-800-8477.

Though in recent times, there has been an increase in missing teens who have not been in imminent danger but considered runaways, the police have cautioned that given their age, it is still cause for concern.

Well it seems that pedophiles have become very brave these days. They even call the parents to say they have the child. This is a clear sign that our court system is weak. If the court was known to act swiftly and hard on them they would never be so brave.
Parents also need to be more vigilant these days. The environment is different today. The society is more materialistic so children want things that their parents cannot afford. MOTHERS NEED TO TO TELL THEIR CHILDREN EARLY NOT TO TAKE GIFTS FROM MEN. BE SATISFIED WHITH WHAT THEY HAVE. THIS IS THE TRAP PEDOPHILES USE.
The internet and Facebook are playgrounds for pedophiles. It’s hard to be a parent today so parents must use a balancing act. A little of the old parenting but also some new ones because children are very sensitive. If the child is getting out of hand, seek out a counsellor, church leader or even The police early, to talk to them. Don’t wait until it ‘s too late and the child gets out of hand.

Yes sah. So at 14 she is allowed to just stay over a friends’ house and you have NO SAY in the matter? What happen to your house? Why can’t she sleep there? You’d allowed this CHILD to behave like a grown woman, now she cannot handle herself. I blame YOU! I have a 16 year old daughter and I double DARE her to just leave house and go, or not return when expected, etc. etc.

I raise my children way I was raised: with ultra discipline and love! No coco macaque. That said, I hope she is fine wherever she is. Where in Dominica can somebody hide a child? Prying for HER. You, Mom, are a whole nother story.

Sounds like the Castle bruce man that disappeared form the hospital years ago and nothing has been heard since. Ebeh look it!

The things we have in Dominica calling police these days don’t even worth the uniform they wear. In the days of Duke Savrin, Alpe, Insp. Hillaire (deceased), even George Cook (aka Mr. Suspecious) you would have your daughter back already. Give Weekes or Cuffy the case and see how quickly your daughter will be found. You have a cell number, a last location, access to telephone records on island, cell towers and two weeks you cant solve this? That have me laughing in french papa    .

Lady, post the number here please I am sure someone will recognise it and tell you and the police who most likely have your daughter with them for whatever reason. Dca has become a very BIG Joke if you ask me.

90 % of my posts are rejected/ not published by DNO and I keep asking why such is the case. People are afraid to handle and acknowledge the truth. Now, regarding the young ladies that have been reported missing (which is a very sad and heartbreaking experience for us all) the mothers of these missing children are the ones appearing on social media and other mediums crying and begging for the safe return of their children. Where are the fathers? It’s not so with the right race and other races! This is indicative of the black race and we are not asking why. The main reason why the black race is so poor and backwards is because we don’t have a “family structure.” Our young men and women are bringing human beings into the world with no means and structure in place to feed, shelter, clothed and educate their children. Thus, our society has been broken down beyond repair. The government, on the other side is to be blamed for not making the necessary provisions for our children.

Okay she’s missing for two weeks. This doesn’t make sense to me. At whose house did she spend the night? We need a name. Which 14 year old in Dominica doesn’t have a phone? We need to know why. What was she wearing before she disappeared? Advice to the Dominica police force: even though young girls of Dominica have a tendency to run of with their boyfriend’s, you all should not be sitting on missing persons cases for nearly two weeks. She could be across the world by now. Get foreign assistance if needs be. Organize search parties in every community. GET UP AND OUT TO FIND HER.

How long is shortly? If the child is not home by midnight the mother should call the friend. What about the child’s father, who is he and where does he live? The police should question her close school mates may be there is something they know the mother doesn’t.Who is her closest male friend.Who was at the home when she?? went to the bolevard?.Finally the police should pick up all known CHILD MOLESTERS for questioning

So the mother has a unknown number calling her phone to tell her that her daughter will return home soon so the police cant go to the telephone provider to get the who the number register to come on. I feel for the mother am a mother as well and i would be worried for my child i pray that this young girl will return home safely in Jesus name Amen.

nonsense. how can the number be unknown when the mother and a teacher are calling the number and it is being answered by a man?

  16. If we knew better
    July 14, 2021

I think we know what might at play here. Remember the young lady that was missing for forty days and forty nights in the St. Joseph/ Layou area? Come to find out she was living in a cave with her boyfriend. I hope this young lady returns home safely and speedily. That not a looking good for her or her parents. Our young girls need guidance and counseling and positive figures in their communities to help them grow up as proper young ladies, not just women.

    • If we knew better
      July 14, 2021

Also, what is the number? Has this reported to any of the phone companies through the police? Can the nearest cell tower be identified and then narrowed down to an exact area?
