Mehul Choksi was indeed with a woman when he landed in Dominica but she was not his girlfriend.
Sources close to the fugitive businessman have told reporters that she was a part of the team involved in his abduction, torture and arrest.
The sources further said the woman was staying in Antigua.
She started meeting Choksi during morning and evening walks, befriended him and on May 23 called him to an apartment to meet her.
Choksi claimed that when he got there, a group of people abducted him and took him to Dominica where he was arrested.
He alleged through his lawyers that people with links to India were the ones who abducted him in collaboration with Antiguan officials.
According to Choksi’s lawyers, the Indian businessmen was then beaten up, tortured and taken to Dominica in a vessel where he was arrested.
On Sunday, Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda Gaston Browne said he was told that Choksi travelled with his girlfriend to Dominica on a “pleasure” trip.
The PM has also requested the Dominican authorities to directly deport Choksi back to India because according to him, Choksi’s call for revocation of his Indian citizenship was never granted.
The high court in Roseau has extended till June 2, its order restraining the extradition of Choksi from Dominica.
The court will, on June 2, next hear the matter a habeas corpus plea which Choksi’s lawyers have put before it.
Choksi is wanted by India’s judicial authorities for criminal conspiracy, corruption and money laundering among others.
He remains a patient at the Dominica China Friendship Hospital where he is being treated for an underlying condition.
Prime Minister Gaston Browne has accused the Opposition in Antigua of supporting Choksi to secure campaign finances, a claim the UPP has denied.
All this comes as the United Workers Party Leader in Dominica, Lennox Linton, said the removal of Mehul Choksi from Antigua and Barbuda, to Dominica, was intended to facilitate his transfer to India without having to wait on the outcome of the on-going extradition.
Linton said in a statement Monday that Dominica has been conscripted to unlawfully violate the constitutional rights of an Antiguan citizen for crass political purposes.
What is the deal with UWP and Choksi? Before Skerrit talk to someone they think the person is a criminal but now there is wanted criminal they trying to defend him? How hypocritical….the payday must be really good if the UWP is willing to risk it all for Choksi.
TomE, the question that you should be asking which is blinding you in the eyes is what is the deal between Gaston Browne, Roosevelt Skerrit, Mehul Choksi, Citizen by Investment Programme CBI and criminal millionaires and billionaires wanted in their home countries? That is the question that should be troubling you and itching your eyes! Why are so many Citizen by Investment Programme CBI clients wanted criminals? And what does that say about Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit and Prime Minister Gaston Browne? Stop trying to invent and create blame when the truth and the evidence is blinding you eyes!
Ideally the Dominica Bar Association must support the kind request from India to let justice prevail. After all, this fat, billion dollar fugitive and global criminal is an Indian Citizen who absconded from the clutches of law after looting billions of poor people’s money!

You are more limited in your exposure to this major news item. I canvas and have read reports from Yahoo news, The Times of India, Caribbean News Now, Google News, The Observer Newspaper and others. You on the other hand have mostly tuned into the limited echo chamber of Labor party propaganda. Gaston Browne has not told the truth from the beginning, he has sought to try to make it go away quickly instead, not realizing that like quick sand the more he wiggles the deeper he sinks. He ought to be ashamed of himself for having a forked tongue. On the other hand Skerritt who says he’s in charge is scared of the truth and won’t speak to the public. The judge warned him and his agents that Choksi can’t be deported without having had legal recourse. Skerritt and Brown leave me no choice.
Whoops, Choksi thought he was in bed with teddy bears, but as soon as the teddy bears got what they wanted, they turned into snakes. I am so sorry to see that Dominica allowed itself to be dragged into this mess for the proverbial thirty pieces of silver. Dominica was one of the first countries to get a batch of vaccines as a gift from India. My grandfather rang this in my ears- ‘Beware of Greeks bearing gifts’. The gift seems not be a gesture of kindness but rather like a businesslike exchange. Vaccines for Choksi. Which was most likely planned long in advance.
That’s my take. In the absence of information people are forced to do the next best thing – SPECULATE!

Linton a self is an idiot. It easier to extradite the man from Antigua to India than from dca to India because Antigua has an extradition treaty with India so it’s easy to sent him back. Dominica has NO extradition treaty with India so it’s actually impossible to extradite him back to India. The gov will have to go down the deportation route to get him of island and if he claims asylum in dca then the gov have years of struggle to get him out of dca . So getting him to dca was not an easy way to get him back to India. The whole thing looks staged by him so he don’t get sent back to India. Mr change story so many times already. Plus if Indians kidnap u in Antigua why not just place him on a boat one time and send him to India instead of sending him to a place with no extradition treaties with India .

Why is Gaston Browne hell bent on rushing to send Choksi to India from Dominca rather than allowing the legal process to determine the right course of action. To this end, Gaston can’t wait for the facts to be ascertained but he’s rushing to put out propaganda, like the woman was the girlfriend of Choski. Gaston is not waiting to react to the information put out on the matter, but he is trying his damnest to be the source. Unfortunately, he’s only giving the story more legs. Keep on talking, Gaston. Meanwhile, the cat seems to have swallowed Skerritt’s tongue 😜. This episode would make for a best selling novel or the script for a block buster movie. Who would have thunk it?

Have you waited for the facts to be ascertained, are your comments factual, it just shows how silly you are just yapping. @Gary, here are a few facts for you. Gaston is leader of Antigua and Skerritt is the leader of Dominca. When these guys try to hide the truth in the case of Gaston, and Skerritt is adamant about remaining silent about what he knows, then “John public” and I have no choice but to speculate. These leaders are in charge of the Minister of National Security, the police and all other information sources not John Public. They can get and do get the facts of everything they want to find out about. In this case they have made a determination that the public doesn’t need the truth of the matter. I don’t have any truth but I have common sense which I apply plus media reports to form an opinion. In the absence of truth from their leaders, the people are free and have a right to speculate. The leaders have a responsibility to inform the citizens. The leaders choose which matters to keep the country in the dark about, why this subject? You better yap to Skerritt to come clean.
