Dominica News Online (DNO) wishes to congratulate Miss Nawana E. I. Shillingford, another young Dominican lady, who has excelled in her academic pursuits. In May 2022 Miss Shillingford obtained a Masters of Law Degree (LLM) with Distinction in International Maritime Law from the International Maritime Law Institute at the University of Malta.
Miss Shillingford has been the holder of a Bachelor of Law degree (LLB) from the University of the West Indies, Cavehill Campus, which she obtained in 2014. She currently serves as the Assistant Maritime Administrator at the Maritime Administration Office at the Ministry of Tourism.
Miss Shillingford served as an adjunct lecturer at the Dominica State College even during the time she was reading for the LLM. She was also the 1st runner-up of the 2016 Carnival Queen competition.
She is also the daughter of Mr. Newton Shillingford of Loubiere and Mme Evelina E-M. Baptiste a former Registrar, Chief Registrar of the ECSC, Chief Magistrate and Retired Director of Public Prosecutions.

Congrats, but like I keep saying, Women are excelling in everything, yet we keep pushing girls in this, girls in that, and nothing for the boys.
We not PUSHING anything! Men have stepped back and girls are moving forward. A woman’s place is no longer in the kitchen but where she wants it to be. the same way girls are pushing themselves boys can to, nobody is stopping them. Men are supposed to be leaders so if the leaders are not leading themselves should we hold them at gun point? Men spending so much time talking about women instead of pushing themselves.
Frank you must be a fool. How much grants, scholarships, special loan financing, technical training just and ONLY for women. YOu not seeing with your eyes man? Many of our young men are stepping back because they feel disenfranchised, forgotten. Many lack strong male figures to encourage them. While our young boys must be able to motivate themselves, why didnt we just say the same for these young women?
