New disaster resilience and preparedness program targets children with special needs

The Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment, Youth at Risk, Gender Affairs, Senior Security and Dominicans with Disabilities and IsraAID Dominica have launched the Disaster Resilience and Preparedness Program.

Minister Responsible for Dominicans with Disabilities, Dr. Adis King, said in a statement, that the project is jointly funded by IsraAID Dominica and the Caribbean Catastrophe Risk and Insurance Facility and will run until October 2022.

“The project aims to increase resilience and inclusion of children with special needs and increase the awareness of inclusivity amongst community members, particularly parents and teachers to provide an appropriate response to children with special needs during emergencies and in preparation for hazards and natural disasters,” King said.

According to the minister, as part of the program, a public outreach campaign was re-launched to raise awareness about special needs and inclusive disaster risk reduction.

“The campaign will span a wide range of platforms including in-person community outreach events, a poster campaign regarding the four main types of disabilities, a by-monthly radio appearance and a social media campaign focused on students with special needs and their stories of empowerment,” Dr. King stated.

On behalf of the government and the people of Dominica, she thanked IsraAID and the Caribbean Catastrophe Risk Insurance Facility for partnering with her ministry in this initiative.

    What a stupid comment!

I wonder if this title of doctor is also bought?

Relate the crap this pseudo doctor wrote to this:

” Resilience” is the ability of a substance or object to spring back into its original shape; it is the ability of an object or material to resume its normal shape after being stretched or compressed!
So, when someone presents a photograph of win-blown-down structures and babbles about resilient; or resilience, perhaps that doctor expect the buildings to automatically return to their original shape.

That would be another Dominica first miracle perform by god Roosevelt Skerrit!

I want to echo your call, Dominica Bwoi. The Palestinians live in a big, open prison called the Gaza Strip. They live under the rule of Apartheid just like South Africa of the recent last.
