The Island of Nature, Dominica, welcomed a new group of Cuban professionals at the Douglas-Charles International Airport to join the Cuban Medical Brigade. The Minister for Health, Wellness and Social Services of Dominica, Cassani Laville, and the Ambassador of Cuba, Miguel Fraga, were present at the ceremony to greet the cooperants.
During the ceremony, Minister Laville expressed his gratitude to the Cuban professionals for their dedication to providing quality medical care to the people of Dominica. He acknowledged the sacrifices they make by being away from their families and reassured them that the government would ensure they feel welcomed and supported during their time on the island.
Ambassador Fraga also spoke at the event, emphasizing Cuba’s long-standing commitment to international solidarity and cooperation in the health sector. He praised the Cuban medical missions for their selfless service and brotherly approach to aiding those in need.
The team of collaborators, which includes doctors, nurses, and pharmacists, will be deployed to various health centers across Dominica to enhance medical services in key areas. The collaboration between Dominica and Cuba in the healthcare field dates back to the 1990s and has since grown stronger over the years.
“The arrival of this new team consolidates the historical ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, reaffirming an alliance based on solidarity, mutual respect, and commitment to the welfare of their peoples,” said a statement from the Cuan Embassy regarding the latest cohort.
